A good walk up to the monument through fields and trees, mind the sheep. drove to the top on second visit. brilliant views all round of Aukland and surrounding areas but choose a clear day without wind and rain to see it all.

Twice over this summer we have climbed One Tree Hill - both times with grandchildren - one lot visiting from the UK. You can drive up (limited parking and narrow road) but it is more fun to park at the bottom by the Ice cream kiosk - plenty of parking there - and climb straight up the side. If you... More

Adjacent to Cornwall park, it is a great vantage point for viewing Auckland. There is very limited parking and some walk or drive to the summit. Free entry. The volcano crater is an interesting sight. We spent about 15 - 30 minutes at the site, soaking in the view and wandering around. You don't need much more time than that.

What a fantastic place. Even though there is now no longer a tree on the hill there is still a reason to go to the top - the great views. There is no charge and cars are able to drive all the way to the top for those less able to walk to the top.

We stopped here on our way to the airport. It is easy to kill an hour here just taking in the 360* panorama. Perfect way to end our akl stay. There aren't too many places that offer views this expansive or display both harbours so that it is possible to see how narrow the land is. The old stonework is... More

Maungakiekie (One Tree Hill - nowadays 'None Tree Hill') is the place to bring out-of-town or overseas visitors for a great, get-your-bearings orientation of the Auckland isthmus, with its CBD, suburbs, volcanic cones and east and western harbours. The 182 m. high volcanic cone, second only in the Auckland volcanic field to Rangitoto Is., has three craters. You can drive,... More

For the best views of Auckland, head up to the summit of One Tree Hill. You can even see the plot of land where the tree was. Kids and adults alike will get a buzz out of climbing into the crater and writing their name with volcanic stones.

This hill has a great view if Auckland and allows you to get a good bearing if the city and its various other landmarks. Other than that, it's a pretty standard, nice park - not much else to do, but worth driving up the hill for the view if nothing else.

Was taken up to one tree hill, which was quite good views around worth the trip and the column to some famous guy was impressive. But more impressive was the one tree the hill was famous for was no more the Moaries had chopped it down.
