Mount Eden is a very nice place. The parklands are great and the views of Auckland are excellent. It feels like your in the countryside so close to the city.

If you are fit and agile, it is a good bit of exercise to get to the top and overlook the city. On this occasion we had a tour guide bus take us up which was nice. You can see the 2 mountain ranges and the 2 seas that pen Auckland in and get cracking views of the city. It... More

This is a dormant volcano. Very exciting to be able to walk around a real volcano that could go off anytime but perhaps not in our lifetime. It was a little windy on our visit but that added to the excitement.

We have stayed in Auckland 4 times since 2005 and each time have made a point of going up to the top of Mt Eden. The 360 views over Auckland and district are stunning and with great photo opportunities. There is something special about Mt Eden and the crater of this now extinct volcano. If the weather is cloudy it... More

Mount Eden is located about 4km south of Auckland downtown. We parked the car at the foot of the hill and walked for half an hour to the summit. The 360 degree views are stunning and definitely worth the effort. There's signs saying to keep out of the crater, but some people just ignore it and slide down the volcano.... More

Took the outer link and got off at mount Eden shopping street, from there it's only a 10 minutes walk to the road entrance to mount Eden, however I took a shortcut via hillside crescent south up and it took me less than 10 minutes, if you take the normal road up it might take you 20 minutes or more.... Yes. That is right. We parked at the bottom of Mt. Eden, room probably for 7 cars at most on july 27 during the day and hiked up Mt. Eden. Probably gone from the car 30 minutes. When we came back to the car the back window of the rental car was smashed and my husband's suitcase and two travel... More

On a fine weekend a walk to the top of Mt Eden is a must, there is parking at the bottom or you can also drive to the top where there parking. It is an amazing view over the city and across the harbour to Devonport and North Head. We always take our overseas visitors up there for the panoramic... More
