We landed on Saturday earlier and wishing to do something different went to Otara Market. We found it a good place to see the locals shop for basic fruit and vegetables along with Chinese imports of toys, shoes, hats, etc. If you need to shop and want good prices then go, as far as a tourist spot, go only if... more

Well, what can I say "I was born St Helens Hospital and bred in Otara" my whole life was Otara, I went to Sandbrook primay, fergie, back in the dayz... everytime I go back to Aukalani, I have to hit the OTARA markets, there has always been a sense of belonging regardless, how long i've been away from my old... more

I absolutley adore otara market, after growing up in new zealand and then heading over the ditch to aussie i miss alot of the cultural mixes of auckland, i believe at this market it offers alot to be seen, heard, smelt, tasted and trouched..... great range of native maori jewelrey, and fresh exotic fruit and veges from the paciffic. also... more

I've read a few glowing recommendations for this market so feel a little bit sad to say it wasn't that great. My girlfriend and I were in Auckland for the weekend and drove down on Saturday at around 11:00. To get there from Auckland, drive down the southern motorway and take the Otara exit. If you are lucky enough to find yourself in Auckland, New Zealand on a Saturday morning, you must visit the Otara Market.
