We visited at a time when there was a lot go down. A mixture of events in Auckland meant lots of tourists, ourselves included. The harbour had lots of varied boats of all descriptions to look over. The views back to the city are excellent especially at night. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, many with great views.

A tad expensive on the whole but a nice place to grab a drink and some food and watch the world sail and walk by of a lunch time or evening as the sun goes down.

It's so great to walk around here , lots of restaurants, museums, shops and ferries to other areas. WE especially liked sitting in one of the many benches and people watching.

I come to Auckland a few times a ear and this is one place I almost always go to when I'm here. I love the yachts, the cafes, restaurants and bars, the America's Cup yachts (which are available for you to go racing on the harbour on) and the parks, art and wonderful atmosphere of the beautiful Waitemata harbour. You... More

This is a great area to wander through to watch the boats entering and leaving the marina. Plenty of bars and restaurants about for a drink or a meal. Good play area for children as well. A market was on the day we visited with unusual stalls.

Great place to get a feel for the City of Sails, many boats to look at and tours/cruises departing from here (including authentic America's Cup and Volvo-Round-the-World yachts), lots of restaurants, bars (live music at night in many of them) and ethnic food stalls (mostly weekends). For families, lots of open space to let the kids run and play around.... More

We were down at the Viaduct Harbour (and Wynyard Quarter) in Auckland on the night of Saturday 28 February 2015 to see the arrival of the Volvo Round the World Race yachts into Auckland. It was a truly incredible evening, the weather was gloriously warm (late summer), it was humid with little or no wind and through the evening the... More
