Ponsonby has all of the shops, bars and restaurants that you'll need in a visit to Auckland. Try Ponsonby Central for a great selection of trendy eateries or Moo Chow Chow (Thai) over the road. Or down the street you have Mekong Baby (Vietnamese) or Sid Art (fine dining) at the north end of the street. That's just scratching the... More

This inner city suburb is a great place to either eat, drink or just People Watch. Great shops bars and restaurants. A must visit place for any visitors to Auckland. Just wander down Ponsonby Rd and take in the sights and the sample the best coffee in Auckland.

Plenty of great cuisines to try in ponsonby, however Dante's pizzeria stood out from the crowd. Great authentic pizza. Why not end the evening with a stroll to dessert dojo for cold stone ice cream and a photobooth

Ponsonby Road, in Ponsonby is probably among the suburbs in the world with the greatest number of outdoor dining establishments, catering for most cultures, per square metre of land or per head of population! With the imposed speed limit of 50kph, it is also much safer for pedestrians and people enjoying the outdoor atmosphere of Ponsonby Road, than it used... More

We were kind of disappointed actually - this is a an extremely limited shopping area. It is excellent if you are looking for a massive selection of eating/drinking establishments, but for a typical afternoon one would have been fine. If I lived here I could see heading to this area frequently for dining on the weekends however. We spent an... More

Nothing special here unless you're a 'hipster' or like spending vast amounts of money (prices between two and three times that in London or Paris for everything except burgers) Usual sort of shops etc to lure the pretentious. No architecture, culture, views to make it worth a visit otherwise, Drive through in five minutes(busy road) and see if you must

Ponsonby used to be one of the "down and out" areas of Auckland but is now a fashionable area with expensive character homes, lots of restaurants & coffee or wine bars and further along at 3 lamps, the historic post office - now home to the Belgian Beer House. There's a wonderful children's book store, also at 3 lamps. You... More

Ponsonby was okay - nice for a stroll, antique shopping or people-watching, a cocktail or a bite to eat but it was seriously much less charming than I expected. There is really nothing charming about it. We stayed in this 'area' of Auckland to be near something special but it was just a long road with a lot of shops... More

Markets, restaurants, boutique shops of all kinds, bars. There is something for everyone on Ponsonby. This is a neighborhood that is on the rise.

This is not a holiday ''attraction'' it's an inner city suburb with a long strip (Ponsonby Road) of cafes, bars, restaurants, and upmarket shops. At one end of the strip is Karangahape (K) Rd which is more ecclectic while the other end is home to Herne Bay - more bars and restaurants. In general, the quality of food in the... More
