Perfect to go with the family, you may plan for half day. They have a wonderful area about the NZ History and the Maori Culture that is fantastic. Brilliant day out, cafe serves delicious slices, cakes and coffee. Fantastic afternoon spent wandering round the excellent displays. Only disappointment was the price. My guide book stated $5, but on arrival prices were $25 for adults and $10 for kids. Worth it but we are spoilt in Scotland with free entry to our National Museum in Edinburgh.

I go here all the time with four kids. They always have lots of things that they are interested in. We can easily spend days in here. We especially like the kids area and the Mario area.

A great place for the kids, both inside and in the surrounding park areas... There's an eating area near the kids area, which is great as you can bring your own food.

We walk all the way to the museum from the Quai, it was a very nice walk. We spent 2 hours in the Museum but easily you can spend more than that here. It's full of informations, 25 NZL per person without a guide. It's for the whole family.

We visited in 2010. A good size museum- not too overwhelming. Lots to see and kept a 10 yr old interested for a couple of hours. Well worth a trip.

Arrived mid-morning. A beautiful building that enriched the museum experience. Enjoyed the Auckland Museum more than Te Papa! So many fascinating exhibits and an easy to follow layout. Left when they kicked us out at closing time so will definitely revisit the next time we are in Auckland.

Well put together and interesting museum with a stunning location. The ANZAC and war rooms are incredibly well done and so interactive. Makes it easy to learn quite a bit. All over a very good trip with friendly staff and reasonable pricing

Only had 1 1/2 hours - not long enough! Travelling with 4 children and 3 wanted to continue on a bus tour and my 10 year old ( loves Museums) begged me to take him to the Museum. I wish now I made all the children come with us - it was brilliant! He loved the Weird and Wonderful section... More
