I've loved this place since I was a kid. The constant attractions are fantastic , and the permanent ones continue to entertain and inform. I loved the WWII areas. It's a passion that has stayed with me

Maybe it was just us, but my wife and I didn't really find much that was very interesting here. If you are into Maori culture, then you will really like this museum, it just wasn't for us.

The Auckland War Memorial Museum had something for everyone. The interactive exhibits were very engaging. Don't miss the volcano! The Maori Performance was wonderful. This is a museum with great displays for young and old alike! Don't miss it!

I visited primarily to see the Antarctica exhibition as I love all things Antarctica. The museum itself is situated in a really beautiful area. It's almost worth visiting to check out the scenery alone. You need the full day to able to do everything. It's a bit of a smorgasbord of stuff. The highlights for me was the War memorials... More

It is not a very big museum but it is compact. The museum was built basically in three main stages and it covers most of the important history features of New Zealand and Maori people. It is worthy to buy package tour, you basically spend less for more values. You will be led by a museum tour guide to highlight... More

Beautifully situated on the top of the hill and full of wonderful information and exhibits related to New Zealand history, culture and nature. The canoe for 100 Maori warriors, carved from one tree trunk, that's awesome! We paid to attend the Maori cultural performance and enjoyed it very much. Spent about 4 hours and definitively plan to return. There is... More

The displays in the museum are top notch and the buildling itself is a beauty. We spent 4 hours here and could have spent another 3 more. The commemorative part of the museum was well done and the Maori and Polynesian information made it much easier to understand the display items. Museum is easily accessed from the city centre using... More

Well we were captivated by all exhibited, if you are a first to NZ like us you learnt so much about the culture and surrounding islands as well as a history lesson. Staff were very pleasant and told us what best to see and we spent 3 hours plus... More

Wow, I love Auckland Museum. We're not from Auckland so paid a donation for entry. I think that is fair enough. It has a wonderful display of our NZ history and I can really feel my roots when I go there. It has a good cafe about half way through where you can refuel.

Had a really good trip here. Interesting museum with a good overview of the Maori culture, local topography and a bit on the war memorial. Also did the guided tour by a volunteer which was excellent. The gentleman really knew his stuff and was obviuosly passionate about it. Very cool experience
