It was good place for education. My kids were very excited and fun but not for adults. But it is worth to do it

Great especially for the local residents ss there is no charge to enter. Just a "koha" (donation). Great way to educate the kids, visitors from other countries and even yourself about NZ's history. Foreigners love this place as they have access to the Maori culture and at times you can book to experience a "real-- in person" haka performance. After... More

We spent time inside seeing most of the exhibits. The Maori exhibits very very nice. Air New Zealand had a good exhibit. The views on the grounds outside were good also.

It's a museum so, yes, it can be a little dull if your interest differs from what's in the exhibit. But the facilities are amazing and the staff are very friendly (as you'd expect from your time in NZ). The surrounding area allows you to enjoy a picnic or a leisurely stroll, completing the relaxing and serene experience. The location... More

The Museum Building itself is an imposing landmark for Auckland, set in spacious grounds, well worth exploring. It commands a panoramic view of the city skyline and port, as far as Devonport and Rangitoto. The Museum is, in fact, a War Memorial Museum. A Hall of Remembrance displays the name of every New Zealander who died in conflict. This area... More

The museum has a great collection of Pacific island artifacts, dinosaurs and extinct new Zealand birds The staff were very helpful and informative. There is a section on the world wars as the museum is also part of a war memorial. Built on top of a quaried volcano the grounds of the museum have great views of the city and... More

Had high expectations, great location, lovely building but the content seemed a little dated and of variable interest. The facilities were acceptable though busy and noisy - better to escape to the nearby rose gardens for some respite.
