Really liked the explanation of migration to and from New Zealand. This provided background history of the country and answered lots of questions. Museum has some huge artifacts of Maori culture. It lacks explanatory documentary videos which would enhance what could be learned. Nice museum store.

Really good museum which took me by surprise. The building and the layout are both excellent and easy to navigate. They have very informative and interactive (where possible) displays covering their history, heritage and the physical environment. This is a MUST DO in Auckland.

We are normally the type of people to just wander through museums without really reading much, but this museum was the best we have been to and actually made us want to spend a lot more time taking things in. Great museum, lovely building too.

Well laid out, loved the Maori exhibits and WW1 displays. The fashion display was good too though the cafe was disappointing.

Enjoyed this museum. It is remarkably large and our legs gave out before we saw it all. The war museum was particularly impressive. The food in the cafeteria was unusually good quality and very well priced.

Not-to-Miss attractions. The Maori displays are amazing, especially the carvings. Don't miss visaiting the cafe across from the Winter Garden for a restful interlude.

Not much to say, but allow yourself at least 3 hours to walk around this museum. Well worth the admission, with a wide variety of displays.

Free for NZ resident, but visitors from other countries have to pay. If you are into Maori culture, this is your place to be! The Maori performance provide a brief history too. Ovrall, a good place worth visiting.
