I took some friends from overseas to the museum as I wanted to give them a glimpse of NZ during a short visit. Since it was a rainy and cold Auckland day, we were glad to be out of the rain but overall it had its pluses and minuses. The accessibility for visitors from the city is great and the... More

This museum had the potential to be great, lovely location and nice exhibits, however the interior layout was a bit confused with rooms of unconnected things running into one another. Still worth a visit if at a loose end.

I would recommend a stop by, i enjoyed all the exhibits especially the armory. There is a whole level on local culture and history which was lovely and can take a couple of hours to go through. If you like war history (me!) there is a whole floor dedicated to it. I would recommend a stop by.

Really enjoyed this museum. It was a nice blend of natural, cultural, and military history. A few of the exhibits were a bit on the cheesy side but overall, it was well worth spending a few hours here, particularly on a rainy day.

A great museum which is also the war memorial so encompasses the military as well as social history. Also a lot of Maori history to complete the inclusive theme and content of this rather stark and austere building. A tad expensive in my view but if you go as part of a sightseeing tour there will be a discount.

Extensive Maori & Polynesian areas with life sized waka on display. A great interactive volcano area but my favourite area was the childs play section, it was full of nostalgia from growing up in NZ complete with a tree hut to explore.

Visited with husband and daughter. I have MS and as there was quite a lot if walking I opted to use one of their wheelchairs. When the Maori show was due to start a member of staff came and got me and my family and took us a quicker easier route and sat us right at the front -- a... More

My husband and I visited the Auckland Museum as we were on the Hop On Hop Off bus and this was the "changeover" stop so we thought we would take the opportunity and go in and have a look around. We enjoyed the Maori cultural performance and then went on to view the Antarctic presentation - both of these were... More
