My 5 year old loves this place, spacious and fun. Just round the corner from MOTAT (the motor museum) with a tram ride you can take between the two. Good day out. Recommended

We join as friends of the zoo so we can visit each time we go to Auckland. We have visited lots of Zoos around the world and we rank Auckland Zoo right up there as one of the best. I think the obvious comfort of the animals and excellent living environments the Zoo and Keepers provide is outstanding. Also the... More

We visited the zoo again on our visit to Auckland. Busier this time in the school holidays but well worth the time and money. Where else could we see these animals up close, the zoo is world class. It is well spread out, clean and loads for everyone to see. Our son loved finding the animals on his map in... More

The zoo is one of my favouright places to relax and look at what seem like quite contented animals being well cared for and which we might not otherwise get an opportunity to see. Great childrens zoo as a part of it and a nocturnal house for viewing the kiwis, along with huge and spacious grounds and encosures make this... More

We go to the zoo at least 4 times a month, as we have a family friends of the zoo pass. There are always lots of fun things to do, esp.in the school holidays. Things are always changing and the kids are never bored of going. The NZ area is fantastic, and very educational for all.

we went when it was a little rainy and the zoo experience was still fun! i would recommend going in the meerkat tunnels and if you have young children they have a small farm like area with rabbits, pigs, chickens etc so the auckland zoo is definitly a day out for all ages

Great place for animal lovers. I don't usually like zoos, but the animals here seem really well looked-after. I wish they didn't try to keep the elephant and big cats...but that is my personal preference. IT appears they really have good intentions. My kids LOVE It.

I've been to a lot of zoos and this one really stood out as the best one. I thought San Diego's Zoo would be hard to beat, but Auckland's Zoo really beat it out. The various animal areas allow you to get right up and close with the animals and is a great place to take children of all ages!... More
