The nicest zoo I think I have visited. Laid out into different habitats, it doesn't have the feel of a normal zoo. There is lush vegetation all around, making it feel as though you are walking around a more natural landscape. I'd gone in search of a kiwi and wasn't disappointed even though there are inside and in the dark.... More

There's a variety of animals in this zoo which interests my kids. We visited many zoos and still feel excited and this is one of the most enjoyable zoo. The animals are well taken care in very clean environment. We saw animals such as giraffes, cheetahs, baboons, orangutans, tigers, red pandas, zebras and so on. Expect to spend about 2.5... More

My 5 year old really enjoyed his trip to the zoo - the highlight was seeing the Kiwi :) The zoo is in line with others i have seen but worth a visit if you have a couple of hours. I enjoyed the Aussie walkthrough area where the kangaroos and emus were in the open and you just pass right... More

In my opinion, Auckland zoo is among the best and nicest zoos in the world. It is well-maintained and animals seem to be enjoying themselves in the zoo. You can find a variety of animals in this place and learn quire a lot about their life style and favorites. Overall, you can enjoy at least 2 hours of stay in... More

Good enclosures, interesting descriptions. I especially liked the local animals, the kiwi in particular.

A great way to spend a day relaxing with family or friends. This is a highlight of Auckland's attractions and all visitors should make the effort to go to the Zoo. Definitely best to go on a fine, sunny day.

We had a very good time at Zoo and enjoyed the Africa Animals Section . Australia animals can do more as it was very small allowed section. Birds section could do more. A butterfly section is highly needed as mosy zoo have it for small kids. Good places available to sit down and relax and you can carry your picnic... More

I had not been to the zoo in over 40 years and was bowled over by the changes that have been made. The new area ( I forget the name) is world class.
