This isn't as big as other zoos, such as the Bronx zoo. But it's well maintained & very nice. Local species such as kea, kaka, kiwi, tuatara, tui & wood pigeon are the star attractions. But, Aussie species such as Tasmanian devils, wallabies & emus are also kept in the zoo. The map of the zoo is rather confusing &... More

This is one hundred percent a must go to if in Auckland. I have been to a few zoos around the world and this is the best for sure. It is build into the natural environment which gives the zoo a different feel than others. The enclosures are open topped for the most part which gives you a cool vantage... More

In this zoo the animals seems to have a good life. We really enjoyed it and was happy to see the Kiwi bird, even if it was dark where they were.

Went to Auckland Zoo whilst on a trip to NZ. Well set out with lots to see. Not a lot of animals in some enclosures but does have a good variety. We went on a rainy day, so probably wasn't as crowded, which was good. Imagine this would be a great place to go for families who live in Auckland.

Loves this zoo. It had really nice habitats for the animals. The New Zealand section was amazing and loved the monkeys! A must do.

We had a lovely time at auckland zoo - definitely a zoo to be proud of as a kiwi. Plenty of great information along the way and the kids loved seeing the animals they have been watching on tv

According to locals we met, the zoo was their favorite recommendation--featuring creatures in their natural habitats, some of which you could have close encounters. There are, indeed, Encounters presented by staff every day, though we did not seek that out. Since most animals are enclosed within their natural environs, it was easy for them-especially the small ones-to remain out of... More

Pro: - A nice variety of animals. Cons: - The park could really use more signage to guide visitors. - Can't see the Kiwis cause they are nocturnal and the habitat is really really dark. - The shows were very much focused around animal conservation (which is OK), but I felt the entire park focused too much on conversation that...
