Such a fantastic place to see the New Zealand wildlife, its a great day out & you could easily spend a week there and still have more to see. We loved the walk through enclosures with the native parrots. We did see the kiwis (early morning is best or late evening as its quieter, noisy children etc keep them on... More

Visited the zoo in Dec 2013. It was the best zoo I've ever visited! The animals are all very active and interesting. Especially the Siamang gibbon! They were singing and dancing all over the place welcoming us! There were also a wide range of other animals, and the facilities were in good condition. Definitely worth a visit on a fine... More

I am not a big fan of ZOOLOGOICAL Gardens having spent many years in Jersey and Gerald Durrell's Captive Breeding Programme (CBP), especially with Lemurs and Aye Ayes from Madagascar. However, to see NZ Natives expecially, there is no better place to come. It is easy to find, good parking and a Tram runs round the corner to MOTAT. They... More

My young daughter and I were staying in Auckland Cbd and I thought I'd take my 11yo to the zoo. On getting directions from our hotel we jumped the bus and the bus driver dropped us right at the door. What a fantastic day we had. It is a great zoo accommodating many animals and birds. Exciting open range zoo... More

This Zoo is fantastic. I love the open feel it has and the sense of space that it has. The animals all seem well kept and the amount of room they all have is fantastic

The kids had a fantastic day out, so much to see and do, the holiday treasure hunt was cool. The variety of animals fantastic. The cafe food was ok, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Like the flip signage that explain about the animals and their habitat - very informative! My kids was sad as they couldn't able to see the kiwi bird as the enclosure was set in very dark settings to simulate the nocturnal environment. Still is a good place for family to drop in as there is a big park next to... More

Even though the winter weather tried to thwart our fun, the zoo was a great place to explore and entertained the family. Loved the aviaries and elephant as well as the Australian Walkabout. Nicely laid out and not too big, so it wasn't exhausting.
