For many years I was a member of the AAG and used the members lounge as my Auckland Club, until the refit. Now completed, the Museum has a wonderful collection of iconic Kiwi Art and hold wonderful visiting Exhibitions. WELL WORTH A VISIT as it is not a vast museum, cosy and interesting

I'm not a massive art fan. I'd rather go to a museum or a photography exhibition. However, you can't fail to be impressed by the Auckland Art Gallery. LIKED: It was a walkable distance from the bus stop & it was free to enter. The art gallery was welcoming especially the staff & the works were admirable. DISLIKED: I wanted to see more however I had to leave before seeing the paid art show BLACK AUSTRALIA.

The first local attraction I went when I first touched down in Auckland. Personally a fan or arts and paintings, this 3-storey art collection gives a closer feel to understanding New Zealand. Some pros and cons: Pros: 1. a huge range of national and international art collections, something that not commonly accessible in Asia 2. opens daily from 10am to... More
