What a treasure chest! Slightly awkwardly situated near Albert Park but well worth a visit, some stunning art works and beautifully curated and displayed.

Spent my afternoon here today. The staff is friendly and informative. The art is beautiful and spans many different styles. I would come back again and again.

A wonderful old building with compatible contemporary addition. Good overview of historic and contemporary NZ painting and sculpture. Good gift shop/bookstore. Not overwhelming, so good for all ages and groups.

The architect receives an award for this building. The gallery is next to Albert Park and not far away from University of Auckland, please be there if you like to visit park and university.

The exhibition changes all the time, check the website before you go. There are always something cool going on, however, missing the big flower on the ceiling and tree at the waterfront. The cafe food is average, it can get busy too.
