great gallery

I recommend the Lisa Rihanna exhibition it was incredible. Lot's of variety from modernism to old masters, with contemporary sculpture in between.

Whilst not the largest collection in the world, it was an interesting place to visit. The digital video diorama on the top floor was absolutely captivating and I am so glad we spent time watching it. Very impressive and moving.

Not the biggest Art Gallery in the world, but a very good sample of New Zealand Art as well as regular new exhibition. The new building - inside and out is fantastic. The children area is cool, the cafe, although narrow at the front is good. Would definitely invite anybody to go at least once a year (or more for... More

We loved the exhibition of New Zealand Jewellery designers here which was pure creativity and so inspiring. The Art Gallery building itself is also fascinating and a great engaging space. The kids hands-on room has had something different there each time we have visited and the gift shop full of fabulous things. We will always make time to come here... More

A nice little art gallery, but without any real wow factor. The New Zealand artists were interesting, but we were expecting more from the jewelry displays, which, to us, were pretty insipid. The building complex itself was pleasing and the staff welcoming.

It´s a great museum. Pictures, expos and food. You can explore new Zealand art or new artist that you may not see in other parts of the world.

I head for the Art Gallery every time I visit Auckland. It's well laid out, has a lot of interesting exhibitions, and an ever-changing shop. I always enjoy it.

Nice collection of modern and classical European art as well as local and indigenous artists. My favourite was from the English explorer's botanical and anthropological journals from Cook's expeditions.
