Great maritime museum that is much larger than it appears from the street. Has lots of information about the America's Cup sailboat races. Also has the little boats that were rowed (by one man, and the other by two people) across the Tasman Sea. Good videos. Excellent presentation of the development of maritime trade. Starts with marvelous presentation of Maori... More

This is just a great day out for the whole family, especially people who are into all sea crafts, history about New Zealand and the sea. Take the children and enjoy.

You can easily spend three hours wihout getting bored and there are a lot of things to learn. Good to combine with a sailing experience with the America´s Cup yachts.

Great collection of vessels, and some good interactive displays. We liked the Sir Peter Blake displays, with the film and various articles donated by his family.

A full size (less the full mast) of New Zealand America's Cup winning boat. Great history of New Zealand maritime starting with the Maori canoes. Some great interactive displays too. Highly recommend. Have lunch on the deck at the restaurant next door too.

The highlight for me was the "Bedlam" cabin, but also loved the America's cup exhibits. There was a great video explaining the battle to get to the race.

We could have spent a whole day here, but we only had a few hours one afternoon. There are so many displays to see. Our favorite section dealt with the various races in the Southern Hemisphere and the NZ Americas Cup races, especially the tributes to Peter Blake.

My favourites are the father and son rowing boats that they crossed the Tasman. Covers our pioneer past and our more recent yacht racing successes. I was disappointed that the trips on the boats were not on on the day we visited.
