We booked this on arrival into Auckland(arrived by cruise ship). The cost to purchase direct with Fullers Cruises was Much better value than on the ship..We thoroughly enjoyed the day, the trip to the island was a very pleasant 40minute cruise. We were met on arrival & driven around the island in a very comfortable coach. The commentary was very... More

We simply used the ferry to get to Waiheke and walked around as much as we could do prior to catching a later return ferry. The island offers guided wine tours but we preferred to do our own thing and enjoy the tranquility as well as the beautiful cove scenery.

Just a short 35 minute boat trip from Auckland, we were on the gorgeous Waiheke Island and ready to tour some of the highlights. The driver/tour guide was excellent - dry humour and very knowledgeable! I cannot remember his name but he had a beard and grey hair. After the tour we were left to explore the island on our... Rob was our tour guide and it was obvious he loved the island by the way he spoke. He was informative, friendly and extremely helpful. Even hours later when the tour had ended and we were still on the island he remembered us. He asked us how our day had been and as we were coming from the beach in... More

We booked the explorer tour so that we could get an overall view of the island and the way of life. It is a good way to orientate yourself and then use the all day bus pass to go back to somewhere you want to explore more in depth. However, the day was somewhat marred by the commentary by our... We'd definitely recommend this ferry ride and combined island tour (Explorer). Our tour driver was Greg, who has lived on the island for a couple of decades. Very knowledgeable and answered our questions thoughtfully. Make sure you get the seats at the front of the coach, to not only enjoy the view, but to better hear the commentary, as against... More

This tour is a nice post-cruise option. We disembarked from our cruise ship, got a taxi to our hotel to drop off our luggage, walked the easy walk back down to the wharf, and bought tickets for Fullers Waiheke Explorer Tour. A nice bonus was that we had priority boarding on the ferry. It was a beautiful morning, so we... More

We looked closely at the options for our day trip on Waiheke...and decided the best value for what we wanted to do was the Fullers Explorer Ticket. We had a great time and visited the Te Motu vineyard (reviewed elsewhere). Waiheke is a great day excursion for anyone visiting New Zealand and there are many options and many prices!. However,... Make sure that if you can spare a day while visiting Auckland, that you go out to Waiheke Island. It is lovely, with great restaurants and beaches. Well worth the visit.

I will admit I was somewhat hesitant about going on this trip, but ended up absolutely loving it. Super-easy logistics between ferry and bus. It was a summer Saturday so the tour was full, people from all over the world. Our guide, Nathan, was fantastic -- great sense of humor, tremendous local knowledge, and just very down-to-earth and engaging (not... More
