This was a good way to get the layout of the city, though it is a relatively short (earliest pick up is 9:45am finishes at 4:00pm with an hour at any given stop before the bus comes back around, so you have to prioritize your stops, it's not possible to do more than 3 or 4) because this is the... We certainly started off on the wrong foot. It was a chilly winter morning, and I grabbed a coffee while waiting for the bus...only to have the driver make me throw it out upon boarding minutes later. Regardless, this bus tour is pretty expensive, especially with the shorter operating time and less frequent buses in the winter. They really should... More

The Auckland Explorer Bus is a good way for visitors to get around the city for a reasonable price. There are 2 routes. One route circles the Auckland city area, the other goes to Mount Eden and other areas nearby. Both routes stop at Auckland Museum where you can transfer. Both routes stop by good areas. While on-board there is... More

I love Hop On Hop Off tours as they are a great way to familiarise yourself with a city. However in Auckland in the winter season they do not start until 10 a.m. and the last bus is about 3.30 p.m. I paid A$45 but only managed one hop off. I could not stay at any of the gardens or... More

The tours were good and the spots they hit were too. A few stops you could enjoy what was there then have a long wait for next bus. We were there in April so the buses ran every hour rather than every half hour. On the red line it may be easier to walk to another spot than wait for... More

Had it not been Easter weekend we would have saved nearly $90 and not done the tour!! The commentary was from a prerecorded CD and was poor "on your left-the hospital"-built by who and when? All the sights can be reached via local buses(many with onboard location screens) from Britomart Transport Hub. If you have a good guidebook you won't... More

At NZ$45 for a one-day ticket or NZ$75 for 2 days, used consecutively, you get 2 routes: the red route and the blue route which interchange at Auckland Museum. Some buses are double deckers but are not open-air so while you won't get wet if it rains, you will be taking photos through glass unless you get off at a... More

The tickets for this hop on hop off service were NZD45.00 per person but for that you got two routes, the red and blue routes, which interchanged at the Auckland Museum. The commentary is pre recorded, which is fine, and both routes are very good. They advise hopping off to visit attractions as you go rather than doing a complete... More

Took this tour when other options were not open (Boxing Day) and should have gone earlier in the day. A bit pricy for only the hour or so it takes to complete the circuit. Drivers are courteous and helpful, and we actually were given a discount for it being later in the day.

Auckland is a beautiful city and we saw a lot of it with the Explorer Hop On Hop Off bus. $45 for an all day pass with 15 stops. The city is beautifully set out and you won’t run out of things to see. There is the red and blue circles with interchanges at Auckland Museum that covers the highlights... More
