Devonport is an upmarket boho little town just 10 minutes by ferry from the centre of Auckland. It's an easy place to get around (on foot) and you can take in the main street, the waterfront colonial style houses and the Navy Museum in half a day, or more if you stop off somewhere for lunch. There are plenty of... More

A short ferry ride from the central ferry port Devonport is nice wealthier part of the City. We enjoyed a very pleasant walk to the interesting Naval museum where there is a cafe for light refreshments.

Only a few days in Auckland so not much time here but worth the ferry trip and do walk to Mt Cook, the views are wonderful. Great coffee and cafes along the way.

It's just 12 minutes away by ferry. Walk along the beach over to the Navy Museum, which is sweet (and free). Stop for coffee or have a poke around the shops. It's all very touristy and predictable, but I appreciate that they are preserving the old buildings.

The views from here - on a good day - are pretty special. You can see both sides of the peninsula - the city on one and the harbour and beaches on the other. It's a lovely trip and a good way to spend half a day in Auckland.

Devonport is lovely. Take a torch and walk through the tunnels at north head, meander along the front and look at the lovely historic homes. Lunch on the Main Street and do a bit of shopping. Then catch the ferry home. Very relaxing.

Devonport is a charming suburb outside of Auckland. Very quaint and really friendly people. There is plenty to do, and try to visit the Naval Museum. I would definitely go in the warm season as it gets really rainy during May-December.

After a lovely ferry journey, the Village of Devonport is pleasing to all ages, good playground for the young, the shopping is quaint to upmarket, and fabulous eating.
