Go near the wharf - excellent area.

Lots of delicious cafes. And some great views of both Auckland, the water and the nature. Also the HUGE tree 200 meters from the wharf just up the street.

Lovely houses, calmness and novel shops and facilities. Some interesting short walks to discover views and history.

We took a regular ferry from Auckland Harbour and a van tour of the Island. I loved the scenery and the colonial architecture. Beatiful views of the harbour.

Good viewpoints on the gulf and Auckland cbd. There's a variety of good restaurants. It's a quick ferry ride over and leaves often

Devonport is a nice place to spend a relaxed day walking, eating and people watching. It is a lovely walk along the water and there are plenty of places for a coffee at the end. Not a place for shopping if you like the Mall type shops, but great for quirky and unusual things. A nice ferry trip if you... More

Devonport is a must see when in Auckland. The 7 min ferry ride from downtown Auckland is a great way to get out on the harbour. This little seaside village is great for a visit. A walk along the beachfront will lead you to North Head or wander through the village shops to get to Mt Victoria with great views... More

After a pleasant but short ferry ride, Devonport did not live up to expectations in regards to either the shops or restaurants (of which there were not many). The best part of our trip was walking around the back streets, enjoying the architecture of the houses and the view back to Auckland.
