Devonport is just a 12 minute ferry ride from Auckland Harbour, with ferries departing every half hour. It has a little seaside village area with quaint little shops and many cafes and restaurants. It is a nice place to explore. For the more energetic, you can walk to the top of Mt Victoria, the site of an old fort, for... More

Davenport is a little community easy to reach by ferry from Auckland. There are some great views of Auckland, and lots of fun shops and restaurants in Davenport. It makes for a relaxing day. We enjoyed spotting some kingfishers, walking, admiring the old houses, and buying some glass jewelry.

We visited in 2010. Great ferry ride out of Auckland. Quaint old Victorian type town. Gallery to visit and many tea shops. Worth a visit.

We had a nice stroll around the suburb and the coast. The weather didn't really play ball so we probably didn't see it at its best. Nice, although not a must-do.

If the weather is right this can be a very enjoyable day trip away from hassle and bustle of Auckland CBD. There's a lot of history there, a very nice beach, and magnificent vistas from atop ex-volcanoes. I recommend taking a one hour bus tour and then walking on your own to the places you want to spent more time.... More

A 15 minute ferry ride makes this an easy place to visit. The highlights for us were the path along the shore, the old mansions, and the North End. There are a number of restaurants here, and a few shops which are pretty touristy.

We got the ferry over and spent the whole afternoon here walking both mounts and enjoying the beautiful 360 views. We did have sunny weather and that no doubt helped to make the most of the views. The return ferry runs into the evening and we got the 7.45pm ride which had just a handful of local people.
