We boarded the steam train in Glenbrook at the restored station. All the staff were dressed in period costume which made you feel that you had really travelled back in time. The weather was beautiful so we opted to travel in an open air carriage for the half hour journey to Waiuku. The station masters whistle then the toot of... More

We were taken by our daughter and son-in-law for a day trip to Waiuku from Glenbrook. It was a lovely day out as part of our granddaughter's Christmas. The train brought back memories of "riding the rails" as a child in the UK. The bonus was the Christmas Display in Waiuku, what a range of Christmas decoration; the granddaughter was... More

one day visit whilst on tour, Thomas Day in Nov 2014. Seems so well organised and everyone enjoying themselves, plenty on offer from rides to face-painting for all ages. Plenty of steam rides. One of best days of MY holiday

We live not far from the vintage railway and can hear the train whistle on good days. We decided to have lunch at Calendula Cottage just down the road from the railway so called in to check the train out as it was in the station. This is very well restored station, train and the volunteers do a fantastic job.... More

Visited this vintage railway on a tour of New Zealand. It was a Thomas the Tank day so was very busy. The staff and volunteers were very friendly and helpful. There were two steam engines working the main service plus a small tank engine as Thomas was doing short runs at the station. The engines were pulling attractive vintage carriages... More

Went to the Thomas and Friends day out at the glenbrook vintage railway. Wow much busier than expected but parking was still very easy. Small waits for rides slightly longer for food stalls. Great picnic spot. Reasonably priced for what it includes especially since all our kids were under 4 (under 4s free) plenty to do and the kids just... More

Nice old trains to be seen, take the trip on the steam train, you can sit inside in one of the classic railway cars or out on the open topped carriage, the make a stop so you can get off and explore the workshop where they refurb and rebuild older trains, it is all volunteer driven so definetl worth a... We travelled from Hamilton to Glenbrook with our nearly 2yr old and nearly 6 yr old, intending to make the11am train through to Waiuku. We nearly didn't make it, as we got a little lost - google maps isn't so good when you are in the middle of nowhere. We pulled up as the train appeared ready to leave. Our... More
