We travelled from Hamilton to Glenbrook with our nearly 2yr old and nearly 6 yr old, intending to make the11am train through to Waiuku. We nearly didn't make it, as we got a little lost - google maps isn't so good when you are in the middle of nowhere. We pulled up as the train appeared ready to leave. Our... More

Wonderfully nostalgic and simply magical. The Engine and coaches looked brand new - excellently maintained. Only wished the track was at least 40 km long and the trip was for a 80 km up and down run. They should serve complimentary tea and coffee with light savouries or have stalls selling home made sandwiches and fish and chips and beer... More

Our tour had an early morning stop at Glenbrook. The train ride consisted of number 179 pulling red open and closed carriages. I was allowed a footplate ride for half the journey. Great fun. The loco works and shed are well worth a visit with engines that are used on the main lines for special trains. we had a photo... More

Been many times, it is always a great place to take children on their promotional days. Ride the train, or take the double decker bus around the area. Even visiting the Glenbrook train workshops is very interesting for train enthusiasts

A great trip to Waiuku to see the Christmas Display at the Waiuku Town Hall. The volunteers do a fantastic job of running the railway.

We enjoyed this even if the day started off poorly with the announcement that the steam engine had broken down and had been replaced by a diesel. Obviously these things happen and as steam buffs we understand, so we were delighted when they got the engine fixed for half of our return run with "Diana". Quite authentic experience with beautifully... More

We have been here many times with our boys. Great for kids to look, view and ride on a steam engine. They have 'cowboy' days and 'Thomas Tank Engine' days. Just brilliant for the kids. There is a little farm park nearby if you would like to visit there as well. If they have baby 'kune kune pigs' on display,... More
