45 minutes drive from central Auckland on a weekend. We turned up on Mother's day to find that Mums got a free ride on the train. What a nice thought. At the stations there were three lovely ladies playing wartime music on accordians which went well with the enjoyment of a steam train ride. A lot of effort has been... More

It was an amazing venture out of the city. The authenticity was on the spot, even the conductors looked and were dressed as if they walk out of a 1900's set. The operation is well run, and very family friendly. It is definitely worth a trip if you have any interest in steam locomotives, and trains in general. Its great... More

It's about 45min drive from central Auckland. Relatively easy to find.We had a family day out with two young kids and we had all great fun!! It's 1 hour return trip on 100 years old steam train. More

Good fun for kids and those young at heart. We went on one of their "Thomas the Tank Engines" days (held twice a year). Plenty to look at and recommended for those who are fans of steam trains! Fairly remote location, but there is a small cafe on site, and plenty of picnic tables if you prefer to bring your... More

My husband is a steam train fanatic and although I dont fall into this exact category it is always great to experience these huge puffing beasts and the atmosphere surrounding them. At Glenbrook there is a casual yet exciting feeling about this place. The staff are dressed traditionally in the cafetaria and the platform staff and drivers look great too.... More

The dedication of the volunteers running this place is amazing. We have taken our four year old out there four times over the last two years and he has been utterly absorbed and charmed every time. The latest was for a birthday party, set in one of the carriages during the train trip and by the playground, and it worked... More
