We took the helicopter to White Island and it was the experience of a lifetime. As we were on the earliest possible flight, we had the island to ourselves which, in itself, was a fantastic feeling. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the island and we always aware of the "do's and don't's" of being on an active volcano. It... More

What a fantastic day. Could not recommend highly enough. Helpful and informative staff on the ship. The majestic pod of common dolphin playing with the ship(about 20). The island itself just awesome. The hour and half spent on the island goes in flash. The light lunch given on the ship just right. When visiting New Zealand is a must.

I took a helicopter flight to the only one existing active vulcano island from Rotorura. It was an remarkable flight and I could also get an overview over the landscape of Rotorura. This is just a oncer if you consider the price but really worth it!

If volcanoes fascinate you, this is a must on your bucket list. Boat ride out to the island (lots of dolphins on the way). Then, equipped by the crew with a hard hats and gas masks (sulphur fumes would make you cough), you disembark for a 90 min guided tour of the island: really close to the steaming crater, fumaroles,... Took the 2 hour boat ride by Pee Jays Tours to White Island Volcano in the Bay of Plenty, North Island New Zealand. Alighted into a dinghy to the shore, clambered up a rusty ladder (sulphur in the air) and over some rocks. Then it was the hour or so walk up to the summit, passed steam-spitting sulphur puddles (where... More

We booked this trip upon arriving at Whakatane info centre, the senior gentleman recommended this tour was so nice and friendly. Since I always get seasick, it was wise that I took the seasick tablet. The one way boat trip was about 1hour+ served with lunch. We got off the boat and walked on the island for an hour or... More

What an amazing experience! We went by boat to visit White Island in January 2014. It was incredible! On the way to the island we saw a large pod of dolphins that danced around the host. The skipper slowed right down so we could all get a look and some photos. We enjoyed our tour on the island. The group... More

What an amazing place this is! To be standing on a live volcano, feeling the thuds under your feet and watching mud and steam propelled high into the air is an unforgettable experience. We went with White Island tours and found them very knowledgeable and informative, the boat very comfortable and we felt that safety was their ultimate priority. Best... More

We flew to White Island, cost of $650.00 each. We left from the whakatane airport, it took about three hours. It was worth it, we were the only ones in the helicopter. It was beautiful day and as we flew towards the island it looked like something out of Jurassic park movies. We were lucky that we were able to... More

This was very high on our list of places to visit but I was very nervous about the cost @$200 each, should we not be able to land. We decided then, to go at the earliest opportunity, on the first, fine, calm day to avoid missing out because of rough seas. The weather was perfect, otherwise we my not have... More
