Arrived at reception without a booking but we were fitted in so off we went,on the journey out we saw Dolphins and a Hammerhead Shark. The transfer from boat to Island was very good, then the tour of the island was very interesting and informative, the return to the boat again was good lunch enjoyable, the boat then circled the... Incredible place to visit! Long journey to it on a boat but Dolphins can be seen! The island is ok and interesting but the smell is way too much! Even though masks are giving, it was not enough, at least for me! At the same time, a bit more of security should be stablished....like barriers near to the edges etc.... More

We did a day trip by boat, saw some Dolphins and had a guided tour on the island. This island gives you a good understanding in the volcanic evolution. By the start I didn't know why they provided gas masks. By the end of the tour I knew why :) after visiting this island, you don't need to see more... More

It was touch and go as to whether the trip would go as the weather was a bit iffy on the mainland in Whakatane but it did go, thankfully. The weather was nice when we got out to sea although the water was a bit choppy and walking around the custom built, very comfy boat on the 1.5hr journey there... More

Amazing natural wonder of an active volcano. Be prepared for a very rough trip on the boat to get there. Very rare in the world to walk among active volcanoes that are monitored to track the movements of the earth. It presents an eerie atmosphere and an almost colourless landscape. Highly recommended!

This visit was the highlight of my husband's holiday - he is obsessed with active volcanoes! We flew there with Frontier Helicopters at 8am on the most perfect day and had the volcano all to ourselves. Being a windless morning helped with visibility and the fumes, but we did still occasionally have to use our gas masks. It was incredible... More

We were booked to go by helicopter to the Orakei Korako Thermal reserve but on advice changed to this trip out to White Island. The chopper is definitely the way to go. Not only is is quick but you get the most amazing views coming into land. It is like landing on another planet. We walked the island for about... More

We were booked to go by boat with Peejays and our tour was cancelled several days due to bad weather, so we paid the extra and it is a lot extra to do the tour in a helicopter with Volcanic Air. We were not disappointed. To see an active volcano and all it's beauty up so close was something I... More

this was a surprise gift by my husband and by far the best gift.. white island is situated deep inside the sea and PeeJay tours are the only ppl who operate in that route. the cruise journey was a little rough and too windy. however the tour throughout was too informative. and trust me its worth the risk. when u...
