A beautiful view, especially with the snowy mountains in the distance and rolling green hills. The water was quite rough in the middle of winter but still didn't make it any less of a gorgeous lake.

On the way to Lake Taupo there are great views of volcanos and mountains. The lake is peaceful and a beautiful color of blue. It is a caldera filled with water. It is the largest lake in NZ. We thoroughly enjoyed our drive by.

On our guided tour we only drove through slowly, not sure why we didn't stop as this is a delightful place. The centre of attraction is obviously the lake but there a lovely views of the mountains, picnic areas, eateries, shops & all sorts of other things going on. Well worth a stop.

Lovely place to visit and some great eat places. Lovely setting. We ate at a couple of different restaurants that have a lovely feel. A little more on the expensive side for things but overall a good experience.

The lake is an extinct volcano 32 miles across Good shopping, boat rides, restaurants, Thermal pools, Flight trips. The Thai restaurant is amazing dined there two nights on the go. Best Thai food in Taupo just of the lake front

Lake Taupo is an amazing place. It is such a peaceful place with beautiful scenary. If you have time take a drive along the Desert Highway we found it wonderful. It is a long stretch of road but if you enjoy embracing the natural surroundings as we did, you will enjoy this drive.
