During my week in Perth on holidays the garden wasn't open to the public but from what I could see from the street, the garden look to be lovely I could wish that it was open to public so that I could have a good look around.

Although the gardens aren't generally open to the public, you can still have a decent view of them just by walking along Adelaide Terrace and looking over the fence. The building is also interesting and worth a few moments to admire the architecture (although again, access is restricted).

I attended three Garden Parties here. The management of the events follows a standard procedure whereby people are welcomed, offered drinks, hear a Speech and share afternoon tea. At the midpoint people are invited to take a guided tour through part of the House, then they are thanked for their attendance. I feel it's formulaic but it works for them... More

Been there for a couple of functions. IT really is a beautiful venue with lots of character. It gives an event a sense of grandeur.

When open to the public, a walk through the Government House and surrounding gardens is always an excellent - and FREE - way to get closer to the early settlement British influence on Perth and Western Australia. It can be very busy so on Open Days, so arrive early or towards the end of the open times to reduce crowding.... More

Agree with Natasha's view, big prime real estate where the public is not allowed and can only view from outside. What a waste of Taxpayer's Money. I'd love to Visit this place.

The grounds of Government House are lovely to view and the inside of Government House is a trip back to the past. There are many state rooms with pictures and wonderful furnishings for people to enjoy. Well work a stroll sometime

Too many governers, not enough plebs left to govern. Government House is stupid. It's grounds etc are not even open to the public and it takes up acres of prime real estate in our CBD!

Government House is well worth a visit, particularly if you have children. The gardens are spectacular and the ballroom divine. It is a beautiful reminder of history and that we can do things well in Perth.
