Pick a day when the weather is good - we did and had a beautiful day. Boat ride across to the Island - don't walk across the sand bar it's potentially very dangerous - just catch the boat as we did. Good facilities on the Island and the Little Penguins in the tank were gorgeous. You will hear the story... More

I have taken overseas visitors here on three or four occasions. They seem to find it quite interesting, however I found it myself to be the opposite. Occasionally you see a seal, but mostly it is just a few seabirds on a small island. You can swim there if you want. The little cafe from where the boat leaves is... More

I have lived near this island for most of the last 40 years and swum, snorkelled, scuba dived, surfed, fished and just sat around watching the wildlife hundreds of times. The first thing about the island is getting across from the mainland. It is only safe to cross walking the sandbar if you have awareness of the currents, tides and... More

If you are hoping to catch a glimpse of wild penguins, you might be if you are real luckily and I mean Real. They have about 10 little penguins but the whole island is full of seagulls. Having seen the Philip island in Victoria and St Kilda in Mel, I was quite disappointed with this but the children enjoy it.... More

Great place to visit and had a really great day on the island. The whole atmosphere about the place was excellent. Really Friendly and enthusiastic staff from the ticketing lady to the skipper to the penguin keeper, beautiful scenery from the blue skies to the pristine waters . I enjoyed exploring the island looking for penguins even though I did... More

Unless you get REALLY excited about watching some sleeping sea lions on the beach! Or need to get off the island for awhile. "Drifting over the sea grass meadows and limestone reefs spotting fish, crabs and other marine life through the glass bottom" is what they say on the website, that does NOT happen! Didn't see any dolphins on our... More

A great trip! we took the ferry across and took the Sea Lion cruise once we arrived at the Island. Was reasonably priced we saw Sea Lions lazing on the beach and Dolphins hunting Cobbler fish. The ticket also included access to watch the penguin feeding time (an enclosure for rescue penguins) which was great to see. Once we had... More

Made a trip down to Penguin Island on our last minute decision for the Adventure Cruise the night before and we did not regret it. My family really enjoy the Dolphins watch and ride along with the dolphins. Had a great time on the beautiful island and it is a great for kids and adults to explore the nature of... More

There are no cafes or pubs on Penguin Island. There isn't even a single rubbish bin there. You can have a fantastic picnic there, on picnic benches under the trees. You can get a good selection of food & drinks at Pengos Café on the mainland, before you board the boat to Penguin Island. But please remember to bring along... More
