Perth Mint; the oldest continually functioning Mint in the world is not only pumping out legal tender but has the most incredible Gold Museum highlighting the history of Gold Mining and development of Western Australia. Topped off by the world's largest Gold Coin weighing 1 tonne of solid gold and replica gold nuggets found throughout Western Australia it makes for... More

At first I wondered if I was going to find it - locals I asked didn't seem to know where it was when I asked if I was going in the right direction (I was on foot). Possibly its understated air is a small negative in this regard, but I was very impressed with everything else I saw, from the... More

Very interesting tour of the Mint. Very informative. May be wise to leave the credit card at home because the jewellery is very nice and it is very difficult to resist compulsive purchases.

The Perth Mint is quite the insight into coin making, and has a wonderful demonstration of the gold pour. The guide was knowledgeable and funny, and it was a great way to fill in part of the morning, especially on a rainy day in Perth. They also have a nice selection of items for sale. I would recommend visiting as... More

Loved this. Not something that this writer would usually visit, but our guide (as I recall, Alex?) was most entertaining, knew his stuff and enjoyed all the interactive stuff, seeing molten gold being made into bars, the biggest coin in the world, learning what one's weight in gold is worth. Seriously fun. I imagine also for the little kids as... More

If you have been to a something similar (like the one in Balarat), Perth Mint is just OK and a bit on the pricey side. The tour is informative and it also gives some background about the gold rush. The tour guide is also good, but the gold pouring part of the tour is quite short and I was actually... More

I learned a lot on this tour of the Perth mint about gold. The gold pouring demonstration was particularly interesting.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. The gold pouring exhibit is interesting. At the end of the tour you do get the opportunity to create your own gold coin for an additional fee.
