This was a very informative and enjoyable experience. The staff were friendly and open to questions. The gold pouring was fascinating and almost unbelievable that the liquid gold cooled so quickly. Very reasonably priced too. (entry fee, not the price of gold!)

The Perth Mint is one of the main attractions of the city. 19 AUD for a guided tour is a fare price. We will be fascinated by gold bar making infront of you. Liquid gold is enchanting... But!!! After the nice guided tour we headed to the shop and I wanted to buy two 10 grams golden bar for a... More

Thankyou for your feedback regarding your recent visit to the Mint. I understand your disappointment with regards to some of our rules and regulations but hopefully the following explanation will make our restrictions seem a little more acceptable. 1. With regards to photography, we can not allow photos to be taken inside the building for security reasons. This is due... More

Another of those places you must visit. Being a retired banker I had some interest in the Perth Mint however upon walking through the gates my wife discovered that the statue in the forecourt of two miners digging for gold commemorated her great great Uncle Arthur Wellesley Bayley who was the first to discover gold at Coolgardie WA in the... Got to learn a bit of Perths history and we designed some of our own coins which was nice even though the designs are limited.

Enjoyed the tour and learnt a lot about the mint through the explanation from the guide. Too bad photgraphy not allowed inside the mint. Bought some coin souvenirs and liked the items on displayed.

A great place to see how the Mint became into being and its history, to see how the gold nuggets are melted down and to dream of owning the dazzling diamonds and gold jewellery on sale.

A very instructional visit and our guide Greg was very knowledgeable and helped make this a memorable visit. You need to allow a couple of hours which will also give you time to sample the food in the cafe which was also excellent. Seening a 1 ton gold coin was awesome and the demonstration of pouring gold was most interesting.

The Perth Mint was established by the British Overlords to Western Australia in the 1880's - primarily to spur their own "gold rush" and economic development. No longer minting daily coinage, the Perth Mint is the Australian version of the US Franklin Mint. Nevertheless the original facility is very historic, and the tour worth the price.
