Fascinating Visit

A very worthwhile visit - you get to see the largest gold coin in the world, and also have a demonstration on how to make a gold ingot. Strongly recommended.

We visited the Perth Mint on a recent holiday there, and found it an excellent morning out. Be sure to note the tour times so you get there for one, as you have to join a tour to see the key attractions. Starts with a bit of a history lesson which is very interesting, then off to see the $1M... More

We live here and decided to go sell some old gold for scrap. Ended up taking the guided tour. Was more interesting than we expected so a pleasant surprise. Well worth for an oversea tourist.

We wanted to do the tour but they only seemed to be every hour and as it was over 40oC didn't want to hang around for 40 minutes with nothing to do. We did look in the shops but it didn't take long, so we left without doing the tour. Think they ought to do the tour more often.

We went along as I had a 25% off voucher. I was expecting to zip in and out but pleasantly surprised how interesting the tour was. Loved watching the guy turn boiling hot liquid gold into a solid gold bullion. Beautiful jewellery too. Great experience - my 9 year old daughter loved it! ( I wouldn't take a toddler next... More

The guide was very informative & had a sense of humour. Great to see a one ton gold coin valued over $56 million. No threat of anyone walking out with it. The pouring of a gold nugget was interesting.

We spent the morning before our Perth departure at the mint. Apparently there is several guided tours like on the hour but we just missed the first one. As it was held in the garden just outside the mint's main entrance, we just sat around the garden and listen to the story how the few pieces of gold nuggets, including... More

This is a must see tour for history lovers and anyone with an interest in gold. you are walked through the history of the gold rush in WA. see replicas of the largest gold nuggets found here and then get to watch gold being smelted in the original way. You can even get to handle a large gold ingot. Having... More

Our family of four adults thoroughly enjoyed this visit. There is just enough history and presentation by well-versed tour guides, then a demonstration of gold being poured. You have time to read at your leisure and visit the shops in air-conditioned comfort. Unfortunately, no photos allowed. Well worth a visit!
