This is a place to reflect - and particularly at night with fewer people around, the eternal flame becomes the focus. Much time can be spent simply gazing into the dancing flame against the backdrop of one of the most stunning views of the City of Perth. Try out the whispering wall that borders the flame - a treat for... More

On my 1st full day in Perth I took the free bus up to Kings park and the state war memorial , the first thing that made my bus trip memorable was the spectacular views of the Perth skyline and the swan river looking down from the war memorial. Behind the state memorial is the flame of remembrance another jaw... More

This overlooks Perth Waters in Perth the capital of the State of Western Australia. Every Western Australian born serviceman and woman who died for their nation is listed. The park is 400ha or 1000 acres adjacent to the CBD and is open every day of the year with free admission. It was gazetted in 1875 and on the succession of... More

The memorial is part of the Kings Park complex. Australia has sent many men and women to fight an die beside their allies. And, this is beautiful memorial sits on a cliff that overlooks a bend in the Swan River. The entire park is quite lovely and a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours. A visit is worthwhile... Thought provoking for all to not take our freedom for granted. You can even see it from the City Perth. Well kept and presented.

If you get a chance do dawn service in Perth at this memorial. It is an outstanding recognition of those who have served.

The Australians take good care of their war memorials and this is just one example of many I saw whilst visiting Australia recently. Always impressive but also always moving and human. Hopefully they remind us not only of those that have gone but also those left behind.
