Type: Historic Walking Areas, Trails, Cultural
Owner description: Explore the history of our town - on foot. Established on what is virtually an island encircled by the Swan and Helena Rivers, Guildford is ideally suited to exploration on foot. To assist you in discovering the numerous fascinating historic buildings, lively characters and wonderful stories of this 'island village' three new heritage walk trails (with 35 interpretive panels) have been built. Each trail starts and finishes at the Old Guildford Courthouse (Visitor Centre).

This makes for a great side trip on a visit to Perth. Only 25 mins from Perth centre and easily accessible by train or car, Guildford was one of the first settlements in the colony of Western Australia. These well marked walking trails give a feel of what life was like. Interesting information displays can be found along the way... More

The Guildford Heritage walk trails are 4 self guided walks around the historic town of Guildford. There are interpretative panels as you are going around to read all about the special places of interest. A great way to spend a couple of hours.

On a visit to Perth, we decided to spend some hours looking at the historic 19th century trading town of Guildford. It is just a 20 minute ride from Perth Central by rail. Popped into the Visitor Information centre where we acquired a pamphlet depicting several walk options within the area. We chose one of an hour duration, and after we stopped for a drink at the historical Rose and Crown Hotel. Menu looked good but as we needed to keep on the move we did not stay to eat.

for those into history, you will love this, otherwise you will be dead bored. Many lovely shops selling old wares on the main street, including cafes and food outlets.
