The flow of this water through these gaps just can not keep up with the rate of the tide rising or falling. This in turn creates an amazing waterfall effect as the water rushes through and then down to the lower levels on the other side of the ridgelines. Not long after the process is reversed and it is repeated again in the opposite direction. It is believed that many billions of years ago there may have been only a small crack between the ridgelines that over the years became larger and larger due to erosion and made gaps of between nine and twenty three metres which created this amazing place call Horizontal Waterfalls. « less

Horizontal Falls – day trip $685 per head but worth it. From Derby We opted for the day trip, which involved a 35min flight in a seaplane from Derby to the magnificent Buccaneer Archipelago, where massive tidal water movements rushes through 2 small channels, (10 and 20 metres wide), to form “horizontal waterfalls” into Talbot Bay. The height difference, over... More

This is a day trip of many parts. The flight up to the falls over the Kimberleys should not be missed. Flying low over the falls and hills is breathtaking. Breakfast on the bay, shark feeding and then repeated trips though the falls themselves. Lunch at Cape Leveque with the best barramundi i have tasted. An exciting trip home in... More

Absolutely superb. We did the full day trip starting with the 4WD to Cape Levique then on to the seaplane to the Horizontal falls. The staff were fantastic on all legs of the journey and the experience of the boat ride through the falls was something to remember for a lifetime. Plenty of food and drinks supplied so you only... A great flight over the wonderful Kimberley area to Talbot Bay where the houseboat was positioned, was an exciting start. Repeated runs through the tidal openings were exhilarating to say the least, well explained and comfortable enough to experience. The following journey through the gorges was beautiful and well narrated. Our houseboat stay was marred by the fact that they... More

This tour has been on my bucket list since being told by several people over the last couple of years that it is worthy of the expense. Wow! We were not disappointed despite all the hype beforehand! This has to be one of the best day tours we have ever done - a simply amazing experience from beginning to end.... More

We did the one day 4 wheel drive to On Arm Point then flight to the falls & back to Broome. What an amazing experience from start to finish. Although the first 90kms from Broome was definitely an early morning wake up (dirt road). Great guide, very friendly, accommodating staff who do everything possible to make this a memorable trip.... Excellent from go to woah. I did the ovanite from Derby. Yes it's pricey, but the season is short, the staff are more permanent than is usual in these parts of oz, they are well trained and competent and they make you feel like the guest that you are. So if that means staff wages above basic, then I'm happy... More
