This is a lovely area with lakes and native vegetation. Great for a picnic or BBQ. Spent some time here just taking in the lovely location. There is also a native plant nursery at one end of the park which is worth visiting as they are a wealth of information about the local plants.

Good place for a walk, or run if you are energetic, easy walk for any fitness level. Plenty of parking and very quiet; we only saw one other person there on a sunny Saturday morning. Very dry when we there so the grassed areas where not looking too good for a picnic. Walking around take the time to stop at... More

Newport lakes is a real hidden gem. You can't see it from the main road, and unless you know it's there you might miss it, but it is certainly worth a visit. There is a native nursery outside the entrance to the lakes. The lakes themselves have several paths going around them and large rocks through the middle of the... More

A surprisingly rural bush experience so close to the city. Great if you do not have time to get out of town but want to see a native environment.

Newport Lakes park is a top place for a walk or run and it has a basic but well maintained playground for the little ones. The lake is quite nice and has stepping stones which can keep younger kids happy for a while.

I have lived in Melbourne for over thirty years and was shocked to find such a hidden treasure only 6 Klm to Melbourne CBD. We entered via Margaret street where there is plenty of parking and disabled parking. The parkland adjacent to the lake has good clean toilets, bbqs and tables etc. Dogs can enter the Newport lake district but... More

Terrain is rough for a stroller but my baby loves it. Variety of short walks, very peaceful. Nice calm oasis in the middle of suburbia. Picnic, BBQ, playground and undercover seating. Hobson bay council really is pretty terrific.

Excellent quiet inner city location with plenty of bird life. A few roos or emus wandering around like the Warrnambool crater lake park would really put the place on the map. It would also be a great sculptor's venue too.
