St. Kilda is a lovely area and the beach is lovely. It can get quite busy at weekends but it doesn't feel over crowded. There always seems to be something going on. We saw in the New Year from St Kilda beach looking back across Melbourne CBD at the fireworks - spectacular.

Most visitors to Melbourne do not associate beaches with the city. That's seen as a Sydney or Perth thing! But we have some great city beaches - Port Melbourne, Albert Park, and the best known, St Kilda Beach Hop on the Number 96 tram from the CBD for the most direct route to St KIlda. You'll be surprised how nice... More

this beach always has people on it. They often spill across the road from the Sunday Markets which close at 4 pm - earlier on a slow day In winter people briskly walk or ride their bicycles from Brighton Baths to Port Melbourne. In summer the beach is full of swimmers. The sand is cleaned daily and this year you... More

Visited early morning. So quiet. No-one around. Peaceful sunny spot with warm breeze and sea temperature. Real treat to travel by 96 tram with CBD.

St Kilda beach is one of several inner city beaches in Melbourne. There is a great way, access to an iconic pier (with cafe at the end) and along the beach promenade there are many good restaurants to try out. St Kilda, being what it is, has a fascinating selection of people - many of them recent immigrants and older... More

St Kilda Beach is one of my favourite places for a long run, to read a book, or just relax. A few cafe's are located along as well for a quick bite to eat.

St. Kilda's is a beautiful beach and is close to a series of restaurants and a shopping area. However, during the winter everything seems to shut down, especially the nearby Luna Park amusement park and the beach side eateries. Would recommend going in the warmer months when it is livelier.

Overrated is all I can say about St Kilda beach, dirty and uninviting definitely not worth the trip!! Melbourne has a selection of great beaches but St Kilda is not one of them. Also give the restaurants on the beach front a miss overpriced and the food and service is average!! If you do head down for the day, spend... More
