I was there midweek in March 09. Clean and nice.for a dip. As a comparison, I also visited Bondi beach in Sidney on this visit and that beach is a true, to be seen beach. Greatsurf, great people watching, fun area. I'm from Calif. and know beaches. I beleive , the shops on Acland street (great dessert shops) and Luna... more

Theres good and bad elements at St Kilda .. a mix of styles and thats probably what makes the place worth checking out. A visit to St Kilda is worth it but theres an element of people that simply dont care about the beach. When i went there on a wednesday evening it was an absolute Rubbish Dump and there... more

If 'football, meat pies, kangaroos and Holden cars' (words of a television commercial) were once the staples of Australian life in the days before petrol rose in price, then surely St Kilda Beach is one of the staples of any Melbourne visit.
