Went down with friends where we walked along the foreshore. Whilst it was June it was a perfect day to take a leisurely stroll and then up to Ackland street for Lunch. Have been during summer and its very busy. Lots of different people to keep you entertained

Had a really good stay at St Kilda Beachhouse. For $21 a night i got a safe and secure room with lockers and a massive bathroom! Has a rooftop bar which does a really good backpacker night on a Friday. Reception staff are propbably some of the nicest girls i have ever come across on reception. Many thanks to Chantel... More

St Kilda Beach is one of the iconic locations for locals and visitors. It wraps around a bay, as boats bob, people swim and sun themselves. We were there on an April day, an un-seasonally long summer meaning people were swimming even then! The passing parade of people is fun to watch if you find a good posse, or join... More

The beach at St Kilda is lovely, we had such a lovely day out. We only went to St Kilda on our last day, i wish we'd have found this earlier in our trip.

I grew up in Melbourne nearby and a trip to the beach was special. Years later and now living on a surf beach, St.Kilda doesn't have quite the same appeal. Yes, it has cafes and theme parks but I can't imagine going there in the winter months as I would in northern parts.

Area has been revamped. Cafes, beaches, icecreams. Nice place on a warm day. On Sundays there's also a market. St Kilda is worth a visit for anyone coming to Melbourne. Walk up Ackland St, rather than Fitzroy St.

The theme parks are close. It's really cold in August, I saw penguins. There's a chilli icecream there too.

Strolled along the foreshore to the pier - cafe stop then walk along to the restored teahouse and out to the breakwater - sensational views of the city and passing ships. The Vaults on the esplanade were open for Melbourne Open House last year - hope to see them open again sometime. Fascinating history of this area where I learnt... More

If you're lucky, you can see the little penguins even before sunset behind the breakwater rocks. Nearby is Luna Park, an old style amusement park that opened in 1912.
