Browse the shops and stroll along the boardwalk, nice laid back place. Vey easy to reach on the 96 tram. A nice way to spend a couple of hours. Would be a nice place to be based, within easy reach of the CBD.

This is one of the popular beach for locals and tourists alike. Good place to have a family day out or just having a simple relaxing stroll or bike ride around the area. There are also people reading books in the open area beside getting a tan. The beach is well maintain and kept clean overall now after the refurbishment... More

One of the best city beaches in Australia. Clean, easy access to all transport and shoppers paradise. St Kilda Beach is sort of located in the middle of a great expanse of beach. It is located in the middle between Elwood/Brighton/Bayside beaches and Port Melb towards the city. So one can really spend a whole day just walking on beaches... More

St Kilda beach is definitely not one of Australia's finest beaches. The water is quite dirty as the city is SO close, the sand is a little coarse/rocky and over summer it becomes too over populated with St Kilda local yuppies interested in tanning and getting fit. If you're interested in getting away to escape the city life and relax,... More

It is a cool beach to spend your day close to Melbourne city. Accessible via tram easily. Lot of good pubs and food joints to relax with friends or on you own.Luna park is just a short walk away for having a great time with family and friends. Also, you can get to see penguins near the pier.

This is known by locals as one of the worst possible beaches you can go to. It's dirty, the water is bad and the flies, in January, are all over the place. I would say go once so you can check it off your list but if you intend on spending a day at the beach, go somewhere else. Furthermore,... More

I just loved this place because of the breathtaking view of sunset and chilling wind. Also I had a chance to have glance of Penguins there. Food joints around the place is also good.
