Nice city beach... not the best beach in the world and certainly can see nice if you head towards the great ocean road but nevertheless spent many days here in the summer of 2009/2010 when temp hit 40 degrees. St Kilda is a bit of a dodgy area with many prossies and homeless people but i was never bothered by... More

St Kilda is a nice place to visit from Melbourne, not far by bus. Nice beach and shops, this is also the place for the Australian Car race GP takes place.

To be different start your walk at the pier at Fitzroy Street then head north along the water. It is a fairly quiet walk along a great stretch of waterway. You will takes in the sights of the great city of Melbourne as well as the wharf areas of Port Melbourne along with all the visiting ships especially the Bass... More

After visiting St Kilda Beach I now understand why families flock to the Gold Coast. A city beach and an aging theme park, it may have some retro charm but I didn't feel it.

Visited with overseas guests on a bleak overcast summer day. Even though the weather was not conducive to swimming, this beach has nothing to commend it from a swimming perspective. Surrounding area was interesting to walk around such as the Palais Theatre, the amusement park and the view of theDdockland area in the distance. Perhaps on a sunny day this... More

I came on a windy day, so not so great. It was quite busy and there were quite a few jelly fish in the water. It did not stop people from getting into the water. There lots of places to eat in the area. nice to sit and tan then hope in the water which is great. no waves.

We heard about St. Kilda Beach and went there. It was like Coney Island in the United States. The water was nice and warm. It was a nice "beach community". It felt like a good beach to go to.

Amazing getting off the tram to view the spectacular Palais Theatre and Luna Park. Beach has no waves and very ordinary.

Agree to the fellow reviewers, this beach is clean, the walk is good, the eateries provide a refreshing meal and the crowd is mostly European. The water is good for a swim as the depth gradient is low and the enclosures (natural and otherwise) ensures calmer waters. Were pleasantly surprised to see penguins here as well. The place should be... More
