I'm tempted to give this cycling trail only 3 stars, but I want it to have a higher rating, thus the 4. It really was a beautiful cycling path save for the lack of signage when you need it. It took me 38.8km to cycle this supposedly 29km trail today! I rented a bike from Federation Square (35AUD whole day)... More

This is a great cycle ride, ups and downs, everyone is polite, the boy racers let you know when passing. The Spring flowers and birds are wonderful. Places for coffee, just do it, walk or ride it's great. A bit more signage would be helpful, when the track changes.

One of the paths fully protected from cars, along the river. great set-up, clean and well maintained. Good for all sports. Riding can get quite hard if you want to push. Goes on rather steep hills as well as some long stretches of flat. Not too comfortable for the part that goes along the highway, but it does not last... More

You can hardly believe you are so close to a major city. Somehow this wonderful trail seems to link one tree lined pathway with another then another. You are totally unaware how close the urban sprawl is. As a walker it can get annoying when cyclist come bombing past and you forget which side of the path to stand, left... More

I am a regular rider of the Capital City trail, its a great relativity easy ride with very few challenging hills (there are a few hills a little further out near studly park). In and around the city its a very flat ride, with great views of the city (love it first thing in the morning with the sun coming... More

Great for walking, running or riding your way along the Yarra River and seeing some of Melbourne. No big hills and plenty of places to stop and soak in the scenery.

I bought a bike a few weeks ago for commuting to work, but decided today, on a whim, to cycle this trail. Amazing! I can't believe I've lived in this city for seven years without knowing it had this incredible stretch of safe, cycle/walk-able, beautiful parkland stretching in an huge loop around the whole inner city. The whole experience made... More

This is a 31 km loop that circles Melbourne. We start at Mc Robertson bridge in Toorak, but you can start anywhere. From Toorak we head away from city along Yarra banks so close to the city but feels so beautifully rural, past Dwight Falls, Collingwood Children's Farm, Abbotsford Convent, all good spots for a picnic or cafe stop. Ride... More

Little coffee shops, parks, Collingwood Childrens Farm, Federation Square, River banks, and Princess Park - and I have only explored half of the capital city trail. I mainly use the capital city trail for running and training for marathons, as there is a treat for stopping at the many coffee shops and shopping strips for a quick break. With the... More
