The trail occupies the route of the old Inner Circle railway line and links many interesting parks along the way. It crosses three tram lines and joins two railway lines at its ends. Whether you want to go end to end or just a little a bit, you can get to/from by public tranbsport. If you have a longer journey... More

I recently picked up cycling as a hobby and tried out the Capital City Trail. I was only able to do half of it since I just started, but it's a lovely route. You really get in touch with nature and see a lot of beautiful sights along the way. It's doable enough for a beginner, but it also has... More

A lovely ride around Melbourne and suburbs. Great to take in the sights and sounds. Fairly easy ride all the way, on a couple of small hilly bits. Do it!

A fun, 29km loop taking in some lovely sights, and a viewpoint of Melbourne you wouldn't normally see. Abbotsford convent makes a good lunch spot.

lf you are in need of some exercise, site seeing or just fresh air, get onto the capital city trail. Its a big long trail, so depending on time and mode of transport will dictate how far you get. its safe and popular.

I live in Melbourne and this was my first time on this route. Took my 13 year old nephew from the UK. We started at Flinders St Station and cycled anti clockwise. The wind was northerly/easterly so the first half of the route was more challenging. Also presented the most hills. Not that there were many, but nevertheless, you feel... More

I walked the Hawthorn Bridge to Burnley section of this trail a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it apart from the speeding, silent cyclists who sometimes appear without warning. Nice views of the river and the magnificent properties on the Hawthorn side.

The area I mentioned floods, this means there is not a path to follow through during certain periods and since there are not any signs...you just notice it when you have nowhere else to divert. Apart from this, the trail is in good repair and gives access to main avenues and streets. One negative aspect is its darkness after sunset... More

Melbourne has some awesome bike paths and this is just one of them. It passed through some lovely places around Melbourne and adjoining suburbs. Most of it was well sign posted and well maintained. It is easy to access the track from different points and great because it links up with other terrific tracks. Extremely few secluded places thus felt... More

A great bike ride around the city. You get to see neighbourhoods, shopping strips and cafe's away from the busy car choked roads. For most of the route it is an easy paved ride anyone can enjoy, but there are a few hills. You can always get a shot of espresso to fire up the boilers.
