One of the many many lovely cycling trails in Melbourne to help us keep fit and healthy. This one gives you a good snapshot of Melbourne suburbs from all directions. Cycling all year round that provides different feel to different seasons. Cafes and recreation reserves are close by along the route. Any bike will work on this trail. Share with... More

Very clean and safe walking path along the yarra river. Good spot to relax and just stay away from the CBD area. Its connected to most of the small park and major roads. Nice morning walk for some fresh air.

easy to access and hard to get lost as trail runs along river and provides a good running surface and adequate room for both directions. great in the morning with mist on the river and rowers on the water

Fabulous way to get outside and enjoy Melbourne. The trail runs right along the river away from Southbank. Enjoy watching the rowers, practicing out of the rowing clubs located at the start of the trail and all other aspects of Yarra River life. Using the trail gives insight into why Melbourne is consistently voted one of the world's most livable... More

I write this review as a visitor to Melbourne and not a resident. Because a bridge at the NE end of the trail was shut down for strengthening, I ended up doing only about half of the trail, mostly along the river, starting from downtown and going E. This is a very easy trail which is quite flat, the trail... More

This moderately difficult 32km trail is a great way to see Melbourne. Most of the trail is away from cars although there are a few road crossings at traffic lights. There are many cafes situated on or near the trail. I recommend Southgate, Docklands, North Carlton and Richmond as good stops; in particular Ponyfish Island, Green Park, Temple Brewery and... More

This ride encircles inner Melbourne and provides a safe way to see parts of the city that you normally wouldn't experience. At times the signage is difficult to follow and as it is part of several other trails (Merri Creek, Gardiners Creek) it can be a little confusing. We have seen a good map that is available for bike rental... More

What a fantastic trail. We did about 45kms on this trail on the bike. Quite busy in parts with cyclists, walkers, pram pushers, dog walkers etc. Drink fountains along the way. Other trails merge into this ie: Gardiner's Creek, Merri Creek etc. This trail encircles the city covering Fitzroy, Carlton, Royal Park, Flemington, Dights Falls, Collingwood, Richmond etc. Very pretty... The bike trails around Melbourne are great. We stick to the ones that mainly do not include having to use the roads. The track from the CBD to St Kilda is one of these. Mostly shared with walkers but quite a substantial part of the track, along the beaches, is for cycles only and clearly marked two-way. Melbourne cyclists are... More

This is one of the prettiest city rides we have done (and we've done a quite a few in Australia, New Zealand and Europe). The Yarra is spectacular and so peaceful but once you get up towards Merri Creek you will be amazed that you're still in the city! The creek still has its natural bush lining its banks and... More
