Very accessible from the centre of Melbourne (tram or walk) and perfect for a picnic, the Botanical Garden is a must for all travellers attracted to Melbourne's beauty spots. Much credit for its awesomeness goes to its first director Baron Sir Ferdinand von Mueller, famous geographer and botanist originally from Rostock. The park includes the newly created Ian Potter Foundation... More

Ever wondered where Melbournians go to take a break? The Botanic gardens, take a short walk or a long one through the lovely gardens which are cared for to perfection, don't forget the weekly flower display which can be seen from St Kilda Road trams.

Its near a tran station but I forgot what it was. It is a huge place. Loved seeing the big trees and flowers in bloom. Also, the green house was great, it houses tropical plants. the herb garden needs maintenance.

The gardens are fabulous. I went in quite a cold month, but the sun was beating down and turned it into springtime. It is really pleasant to be able to escape the city so easily, though the traffic nearby does break that illusion somewhat. The variety of flora on display is sensational and there are cute little cafes interspersed throughout.
