Quiet and relaxing but just didn't find the Melbourne gardens all that exciting, it was quite repetitive- kept seeing the same plants over and over in different areas. I may have been spoilt as the only other botanical gardens i have been to are in Hobart where they have many different and outstanding themed areas

The royal botanic gardens are historic, and have been around for years. A great little cafe, or many great places to enjoy the garden setting with a picnic and under a tree. Great place for lovers, families, and friends alike. You can even walk to the cbd from here. A lovely place to go and a must do on your... More

I really love wandering around these gardens. The 'volcano' and herb garden are my current favourite spots. Enjoyed watching people punting on the lake . If you have kids don't miss the children's garden and in summer catch a performance of 'wind in the willows' Appreciate the water fountains at the gates on hot days.

These gardens are extremely well managed. Many different environments created, from arid to virtual rainforest. We enjoy breakfast at the restaurant near the lake, which has always been great and have also tried the restaurant near the observatory where the food is good.

Wonderful place to spend the day! There are so many different spots to visit in the gardens, and it's within walking distance from the CBD.

Just walking around Melbourne after a long flight from the UK (& France for my colleague), we wandered into the gardens and relaxed. It was clearly a great place for the young to the old and was certainly what we needed to feel refreshed agaon after our travels.

These Botanic gardens are great for a stroll at any time of the day. The park is clean, full of life and perfect for picnics. I would think there would be more flowers but there wasn't much.

So many varied plants and flowers. Loved smelling roses--mine were finished when I left for my cruise. Paths were well marked , and on weekends I believe there was a tram. Lovely gift shop, and you could take a gondola ride on the lake--don't know if he sang. ;-)
