It's free, it's huge, it's beautiful. What else do you want? Worth multiple trips, picnics (though food inside is expensive). It's huge and will take a lot of your time and it's time well spent!

Excellently food great, price beautiful view, it's a great place to have a great breakfast on the weekend, watching the water fowl starting their day

children's garden a must, it is perfect for kids under 6 and is a great place summer or winter the gardens are fabulous no matter what age you are and the lake is lovely
These gardens were very beautiful we had lived in melboure all our life and had never been here. We will go back in the summer as we had been to the Melbourne zoo and the shrine prior and we were all walked out. What we did see we were impressed.
It's so quiet and peaceful, you can get lost wandering around the paths and having lunch on the great expanses of lawn. Beautiful big trees and some lovely ponds to sit by. Moonlight cinema and Shakespeare in the Gardens in summer. Take a picnic and enjoy the day there.
There is nothing like calming jetlag with a stroll round these beautiful gardens. I chose not to go for a tour but instead wondered round the whole thing in 3 ish hours. The cafe in the centre by the lake is nice but pricey ($4.40 for a coke) but otherwise a delight. Highly recommend.
Brilliant and pretty, lovely setting around the flowers. Just perfect on a beautiful sunny day. Love that your kids can roam around and interact, ie smelling all the flowers etc
Our daughter chose this as the location for her wedding - by the lake - and reception at he Terrace Restaurant. A great choice - lovely atmosphere, helpful staff and wonderful lifelong memories.
These gardens are up there in the international botanical gardens. Serene, clean, lovely, coffee places are great as is the Harp Player. Love the 4.2km walkaround for exericse then a lovley relaxing atmosphere of the gardens.
