Great but stay well well clear of the Observatory Cafe. Rip Off, Overpriced, Pisspoor service and even had a free hair in my $22 salad.

Nothing beats this place on a nice winters day with a good bottle of read wine and some nice food overlooking the gardens. This is a great place for a winters picnic.

The Botanic Gardens in many ways exemplify Melbourne - neatly curated with a touch of chaos on the edges. No matter what the season you will enjoy a stroll through the gently winding paths of the gardens. Easy walking distance to the cbd via the yarra river and plenty of options for a quick or leisurely picnic. Dogs are allowed... More

The Botanical Gardens are is a tranquil place to visit having plants from Australia and from all over the world. On a summer's or autumn day it is a cool and pretty place to relax in. There is a Coppola to sit in and just enjoy the breeze rustling through the leaves. When one has finished wandering through the gardens... More

An excellent place. Great running track (The Tan around the outside) and a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Melbourne. Very tall trees, beautiful gardens, grass for the kids to run around and a cafe to relax at afterwards. I believe there is a new playground there too.

These gardens are magical. Very pretty and plenty to see. Take a picnic lunch and a bottle of wine along. I don't think there are barbecue facilities , at least I did not see any. There is a kiosk and swans on the lake. Go on a sunny day and get a free map at the gate.

Beautiful grounds -- well marked and interesting plants. Pleasant café by the pond for a latte or a cider.

The Royal Botanic Gardens have a lot to offer. It's best to start at the information centre so that you can grab a map and plan out where you would like to go, as the garden is quite large and has many different areas and you could easily spend hours walking around. I particularly like the greenhouse, fern gully and... More
