Owner description: Enterprize is a traditionally constructed replica of a Hobart built 1830’s coastal trading ship. Built to the original ship’s dimensions, primarily with recycled timber held with copper fastenings, rigged with tarred hempen cordage and finished out with traditional flax canvas sails she was built close to her 1830’s original namesake while complying with modern maritime safety. Below decks berthing and comfort were included to accommodate passengers instead of the original ship’s purpose of carrying cargo. Built over 6½ years by mostly volunteers and launched in 1997, Enterprize offers her unique experience to Melburnians, Victorians... everyone with an adventurous spirit. The ship operates from late November through April from her Docklands home and numerous ports in Port Phillip - and on occasions along the south coast of Australia. Enterprize’s programs includes public sailing events, offshore ocean voyages, school education and experience programs, sail training voyages and is also available for private charters.

I was surprised by my family with a Fathers Day cruise on the Enterprize.... something I wouldn't have thought of! It was a typically beautiful Melbourne day and perfect for our one hour cruise. We boarded and had a look below deck, where a passionate fella gave us some history on the ship and on Melbourne. We cast off under... More

This sailing newbie was rather nervous about an overnight trip on a ship full of cognoscenti. Nerves were quickly forgotten; the crew were very welcoming and knowledgeable, and my fellow-passengers were great. It was all a quite magical experience, from watching the city lights diminishing behind us in the rainy dark, to mooring at midnight across Port Phillip Bay, to... More

We went on the Enterprize one hour cruise with friends on Corio Bay Geelong as part of the wooden boat festival. It was a lovely cruise. There is a small amount of seating, nothing flash but something for those who need it. The crew are all very lovely. There is an opportunity to climb the rigging if you're wearing a... More

Had a fantstic transit voyage on the Enterprize. Kevin the captain and the crew made us welcome from the begiining. We were lucky in that we were the only passengers on board. We got to climb the rigging, go out on the bowsprit and I even steered the ship for the last hour. It was more an adventure than a... More

Thank you, fran_terry for your excellent review. Our transit voyages are one of the best ways to see the behind the scenes action of life on a Tall Ship. As it is a working voyage, you can join in and be one of the crew, and we can often let you access parts of the ship not usually seen on... More
