My daughter and I saw Ladies in Black yesterday at the Melbourne Theatre Company. The show is fabulous, we thoroughly enjoyed it as did packed matinee patrons. The actors, some of which played multiple roles were very talented and entertaining. Tim Fin's musical interpretation was first class. You will love the beautiful frocks and style of the 50’s, the era... More

Having seen the film numerous times, we were wondering how certain scenes were going to be portrayed and to say that we were thrilled and completely amazed is an understatement! This production was unbelievable! The play even included the obligatory Alfred Hitchcock appearance!! The ingenuity and imagination was out of this world. The sets were very minimalistic, but very cleverly... More

If you're not one to see live plays or musicals I urge you to see this production of Birdland before it closes. The six actors work flat out for 2 hours and all the performances are faultless, it moves at such a pace that it seems more like an hour, I wanted it to go on. $50 for front row... More

Great theatre, always has excellent shows. Food & wine a little pricey inside, but some cheaper venues outside - added attraction is art gallery in same venue for no added cost.

I was in a very privileged position tonight.Tonight was the opening of MTC's North by Northwest and it was the first time it has been staged anywhere. It was briliant!! It retained many of the Hitchcockian elements and much of the wit and repartee of Ernest Lehman's original script. The adaptation by Carolyn Burns has introduced a different take on humour... More

We have been subscribers for the past six years. MTC has never failed to deliver and we eagerly look forward to October and the brochure about the next year offerings. Quality offerings, great scripts and a season that suits most audiences. Love the matinees. Staff are always friendly and although there is a small charge to change tickets, I have... More

The play write April De Angelis brings an English sensibility about class consciousness most grating on an Australian stage .The uneven attempts at accents did not help. Nor overacting by John Fillingham. The storyline is pedestrian, but characters well drawn. Performances by Jane Turner andMarina Pryor are sheer physical slapstick and funny. Supporting cast is solid..Stage setting professional.. The second act... More

Bernadette Robinson "becomes" Ella Fitzgerald, Marilyn Monroe, Diana Ross and Barbra Streisand vocally and her mannerisms. A one woman "tour de force" taking on the role of a White House entertainment department aide to eight presidents from JFK until today. A wonderful work of fiction by Joanna Murray-Smith, earning a well deserved standing ovation.

October 23rd, Sumner Theatre, Melbourne - as part of my current Melbourne Theatre Company subscription, I saw Chunky Move's "The Complexity of Belonging" by Falk Richter and Anouk van Dijk. Dramaturge and Translator, Daniel Schlusser, describes the piece as, "a 'new human-installation project,' a world in which individual stories, the search for connection and belonging, cohere and dissolve in dynamic... MTC has a wide array of theatrical offerings which not only entertain but challenge and excite you. I know may trip advisor readers may prefer commercial fare but MTC offers far more interesting productions.
