Successfully dodging the showers, Chris took us around most of what visitors need to know and see on a three and a half trip on foot. There wasn't much he didn't know bout the city, it's history and culture. Absolutely recommend this to first timers for sure.

A 3 hour walking tour of the downtown Melbourne area. Included walks down langways that featured many areas of street art and graffiti. These were out of the way areas that tourists would have a difficult time finding on their own. Chris, our tour guide was very knowledgable about the history and events of Melbourne. An excellent tour of this... More

Thoroughly enjoyed the Melbourne by Foot tour. It was informative and enabled us to explore parts of Melbourne that we wouldn't have visited on our own. Our guide, Chris, was very knowledgeable and provided us with interesting facts insights about the city of Melbourne. The small group was perfect, as we could hear Chris at each stop explain about Melbourne... More

Loved this tour will definitely would recommend going. Esp if you like beer, and enjoy good Victorian company. Was a great night and good walk you don't have to walk to far but just enough. Will come back next time I'm here.

Hands down, this is one of the better walking tours we've ever taken and we've done our share. Chris is the tour guide and possibly the owner of the business. For him this is clearly more than a job, it's a passion. His love for the city's rich history and vibrant culture is abundantly clear. In our 3 hour tour... More

We were given this tour for Christmas. A group of ten, lead by Chris spent over three hours walking from Fed Square in a loop and back. We were introduced to large scale modern architecture and sporting arenas, lanes now re invented with art and eateries, old arcades and banks. The aboriginal history of Melbourne, the story of the river,... More

We really enjoyed Melbourne historic tour. Chris, our guide, was friendly and knowledgable. The tour covers the foundation of the city and its most recent trends (a good mix of historic and fun facts). The tour gives you the key to understand the city and to fully appreciate its architectural and cultural unique identity.

Excellent tour of Melbourne where you will see and hear plenty from a knowledgeable and friendly guide. A good combination of history, anecdotes, city highlights and good addresses - mixing modern and not-so-modern. Good shoes recommended as you walk a good few kilometers !

Our guide Chris was excellent. I've never done a walking tour before, always imagined it to be boring...but I was pleasantly surprised! The tour included a good variety of different subjects. Really enjoyed the art and architecture and having things pointed out that were really cool but you would be very unlikely to spot or realise if walking around yourself.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
