I spent a very long time on a tour bus doing the GOR, and if it weren't for the big payoff at the end--the 7 Apostles (yes, at least some of us can count and there aren't 12!)--it would not have been worth the time and cost. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice scenic views of the ocean.... More

Beautiful, windy, bush land sometimes, just ocean other times, stunning scenery. Amazing little and large beaches along the way to stop off and take photos or walk along. Mind the occasional echidna that wanders across the road, keep an eye out for koalas high up in trees along the way, look out for huge swell and surfers taking advantage of... More

Whilst staying in South Australia, we hired a car to make the journey along the Great Ocean Road from Adelaide to Melbourne and back. What a great experience, and one that should not be missed. We took a week to make the journey stopping at various pre-booked hotels along the route. (I have reported on all the hotels on Trip... More

It is a must in Australia. Turquoise water, sculpted stones, coalas in the trees... Just like a dream. Totally recomend. The best way to visit it is renting a car, then you can stop whenever you feel like for pictures, bathing or just day dream. Reserve two days of your trip for it, you won't regret!

Spending 13 hours on an uncomfortable aged 24 seat Japanese commuter bus is not the ideal way to spend a day. Don’t choose the cheapest option if you must go on this trip. Make sure it is on a newish comfortable full size bus. Forgetting the transport I would not consider doing this trip again, it is grossly over-hyped. The... More

This tour is a must. There is so much to see and take photos of. Unfortunately, our Grayline tour did not give us enough time to explore. One couple even got told off when they came back to the bus 10 mins late. While I understand not wanting to make everyone late; unfortunately, we felt rushed the whole time. We... More

I have been to several places all around the world (e.g. grand canyon, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, several natural parks, etc.), but this place was the most amazing and impressive. The road is more than 200 km long. Along the road there are a lot of opportunities to stop and enjoy the scenery or take pictures. If you... More

We visited in the last week of March 2014. With not planned it well in advance we booked a guided your with Colin May's team. That day our guide was Niel. The drive itself has it's breathtaking views and eventually the twelve apostles site is a natural wonder. The tour was filled with amazing commentary by Niel who gave historical... More

We went on a two day guided tour of the Great Ocean Road -- only six of us in a van. The sites were just awesome. We had plenty of time at various stop off points, providing my wife with ample opportunity to use her camera while walking around. The tour we took was actually three days -- the third... More

It's a feast travelling along the coast, which offers some amazing spots for a photo opportunity. Tourists can catch a bus from the city-organised tours, or rent a car. If you continue on the road, you will pass some famous beaches and places, including the "12 Apostles"
