Australia's oldest theatre - step back in time in this impeccably preserved building - it still retains original elegance and beauty. Step into this theatre and imagine a time of years gone by - but still be thrilled by how it beautifully it fits into today's theatre scene This will be one of the best theatre experiences you will ever... Very nice theatre, comfy seats for old theatre, not too low down. Beautiful inside, lovely acoustics and very pretty & ornate inside. The Jesus Christ Superstar Musical was fantastic. Very excellent performance, worth driving over 250km for !! Loved the modern take on parts of it, with the smartphone use and King Herod as a Rapper was very clever and... More

I purposely booked myself into this wonderful theater to see Jesus Christ, Superstar. I was very glad I was able to experience this play in the small, intimate venue of such historical significance. I had done quite a bit of reading about the theater prior to going there for the play, so as I looked around, I realized the information... More

We come 4-5 times per year, mixture of music, comedy, drama, and last night Jesus Christ Superstar. Venue is lovely, both for day or night events. Park at Market Place and walk is a little over 5 mins. Don't be late, the ushers are very respectful of the performers. For an 8pm performance, you will mainly be out by 9.30... More

Every time I attend a concert or performance at the Theatre Royal I feel comfortable and right at home. The management programs a continually changing feast of theatre, musicals, comedy, dance events, university revues, opera and all manner of other musics which sometimes are locally grown and other times come from mainland Australia or the far flung countries of the world.In... I went to the Theatre Royal along with some residents from a Disability home I work at to watch an ABBA concert and the trip proved to be a real treat. We were situated up the top where we still had a great view of the stage and there is an area at the front to see the cast after... More

This theatre has an old world charm that is hard to beat. Small but very well preserved it is a delight from the moment you step into the building. Love it

My husband and I attended a show while holidaying in Hobart. I have to say the staff were extremely helpful when we were collecting our tickets and attending the show. The theatre is beautiful, and we both thoroughly enjoyed the show. It definitely does not reveal its beauty from the outside. I would highly recommend this attraction.

Last night I went to a show at the Theatre Royal. Gorgeous inside and very small and compact. I saw a Beatle's band called the Beatle Boys and it was excellent. I had a seat in the center, third row and had a GREAT view! The sound was awesome and I loved the entire show. WOW! The theatre is ornate... More
