This hour long tour takes you through all parts of the theatre where you guide will regal you with great stories of the history of the theatre, the very famous actors who have performed there and of course the tale of the resident ghost, Fred! So if you have a spare hour when visiting Hobart this tour should be added... More

We came here to see a performance of Handel's Orlando - much enjoyed in this small Victorian theatre. Note the foyers and toilet facilities are extremely small

Saw this for the first time in 2011. There is not something on every night, but the building itself is a 19th century gem. In 2011, we saw Josh Thomas, the Australian comedian, perform. We were luckier last week as it was a Baroque Handel opera, "Orlando": a perfect fit. Unique for me is that you can take your drinks... More

Went to see David Helfgott perform - absolutely brilliant. Sat in the circle and felt like we were almost on the stage. The setting is olde world - from the century before last! wonderful acoustics and ambience. Looking forward to the next time..........

From the moment we walked in, we were transported into a magical feeling of old world charm. The ceilings, lightings, plush velvet seats, gold ornate walls and trims all add to the authenticity of a theatre and the promise of a good night out. It has great acoustics and an excellent ambience. We went to watch "The Topp Twins" and... More

This is the oldest theatre in Australia & it is beautiful. You need to have a look inside to see all it has to offer.

Whether you are interested in theatre or not, this is a wonderful tour. The restoration of this historical theatre is something all Australians should feel proud of.

A great way to see a little more of this historic theatre, the theatre tour of about 2 hours is a fascinating look at the workings of a theatre. The historical details were supplied as well as interesting anecdotes about life treading the boards. Our guide had performed on stage there herself several times and this personal touch added to... A vollunteer run low key tour full of interesting points taking you from the back to the front or is that from the front to the back, including all the dressing rooms. Sitting up in 'the gods' is worth the climb. Would be good now to see a production there.

A must do whilst in Tassie, this is one of the oldest theatre's, it is beautifully kept, great professional service, feels majestic and just a stunning icon in Tasmania, enjoy!!! UNI REVUES that are held annually are a must see and highly amusing.
