salamanca place is pretty interesting. its only open on saturday morning and its just one whole open market which sells everything you want to find - and more. plus there are live bands, performances... sometimes i wonder what else the locals can do on saturday mornings besides coming here? i wouldn't rank it as a 'phenomenal' or 'not-to-be-missed' attraction in... more

Parking can be very difficult to find on market day. If you can secure a carpark less than 5mins walk to the market, you are patient and lucky! If your driver is prone to parking-rage, convince them to relax and opt for public transport. This will also mean you can enjoy a few drinks after wandering the stalls and shops!... more

As well as the shopping options including the market, it is also a good place for a drink or light meal combining history with life's everyday pleasures. People-watching is quite easy too, and the prices of meals and drinks are not exorbitant. more

I go to Hobart quite often for work and can recommend Salamanca Place as maybe the best place in the city for a casual walk / popping into shops /etc. The Salamanca market is on Saturdays (maybe only in the morning?)
