We stumbled on Battery Point by taking a walk up the Kelly Street Stairs. The houses are in such pristine condition and so old it is like a time warp. A visit to the Jackman and Ross Bakery adds to the enjoyment after a tour of the area.

The close proximity to the CBD enables the visitor to wander on foot aimlessly around this breathtakingly beautiful location. The views of the Derwent River, mountain ranges and greater Hobart surrounds are stunning. In addition, the architecture and buildings are quaint and are a testament to historical conservation in Tasmania. 'Oljate' a gorgeous Victorian double storey home noted for its... More

Such a beautiful place for a walk in the Autumn sun with so many beautiful old homes set in quiet streets. Also lots of little coffee shops here and there with a beautiful view down the Derwent River to The Casino

Nice little area with a bit of older style shops and houses. Nice to spend a few hours or get a bit to eat.

Easy walk from Salamanca area. Area surrounded with sandstone cottages mixing old and new. Surprised at the variety of coffee shops so close to the main harbour area.

We took a long walk around Battery Point using a map provided by the hotel. However we found a useful set of markers on our route which were numbered and pointed to the next attraction. The appeal to us was the fact that few of the old buildings had been torn sown and replaced by modern execrations and most had... More

My Great Aunty lived here in a settlers cottage, a truly amazing little building, small doorways, skinny staircase, everything was on an angle and that is Battery Point. Its about as rich in History as Australia gets, everything is old and gorgeous, fantastic little boutique shops, cafes & restaurants and the best part - the old pubs, awesome! Last time... More

I love to walk around any city to experience the local history and Battery Point is rich with old houses and with people like the great Errol Flynn battery Point is straight up from the Salamanca markets and a good walk heading to Wrest Point and Sandy Bay Yes some steep roads but manageable - well worth the effort

Take the red tourist bus for a drive through Battery Point, where you can get off if you like. An absolutely beautiful, up-market, suburb with fabulous historic homes, winding streets, gorgeous views. One of the highlights of Hobart.
