A very nice area to stroll along. Historical building abound. Quirky lane ways. Fantastic views to Sandy Bay and beyond

Nothing particularly interesting about the area. Hobart is a pretty quiet city, so I would recommend you to spend most of the time in Tasmania in the countryside.

If you still have the legs for it, hiking over and around Battery Point is a very pleasant way to get a sense of old Hobart town. Rising above Salamanca there are several access points from convict steps to steep access roads. Our favourite is to walk around the foreshore and park then up into Battery Point streets from there.... More

Wear comfortable walking shoes, and take lots of photos. There are a number of cafes to stop in along the way

Not much too do, very bored being from Melbourne. Go on the Ghost tour, nothing else to do, the buildings were more interesting than the fake stories told!

We kept reading about Battery point, but when we arrived there it is nothing but a range of houses from olden times with some different architecture... Am not sure to this day, what is the big deal about it. It can be easily ignored.

Battery point is very cute. Must take your camera and go for a walk. It's like stepping back in time. Give yourself a couple of hours and you must try the bakery for a quick bite to eat..... If your deciding where to stay near hobart, consider Battery point. Walking distance to Salamanca market and the esplanade, shops and restaurants. There... More

After your visit to Salamanca Place, take a walk up Kelly's steps into Battery Point and step back in time. It's a wonderful, peaceful, quaint area to spend some time walking around. Then, of course, you'll need some refreshments, so depending on the time of day (or maybe not), you have a number of options (we tried a few), from... More
