Step back to the 1800s - almost untouched except where dodgy developers prevailed eg Empress Towers. Wander round and try the hotels, restaurants and cafes. The cottages show how much we have evolved in 200 years - doorways about 5foot 6 inches high.

I thought this area might be too far away from the things we wanted to do in Hobart, but staying on the waterfront in Hobart we found ourselves spending quite a bit of time in this area anyway. Quaint houses, lovely park and plenty of cuisine choices in Battery Point or nearby Salamanca.

Battery Point is well worth exploring and easy to do on foot but the highlight for me was finding a great breakfast location during my morning ramble and I would strongly recommend Jackman & McRoss on Hampden Rd. Great food complimented by welcoming and professional service.

This area is great to enjoy views, cafes & interesting architecture. It's a short walk to Salamanca vis Kelly's steps and then on to the city. I've visited Hobart 3 times and will always return here

Battery Point is a quiet little area right next to Hobart that offers stunning views of Hobart and Sandy Bay. It is full of lovely old cottages, houses and quaint resteraunts and pubs. Feels like stepping back into the 1800s.

We loved just walking around the area and taking in the scenic views over the river and harbour. The colonial past was evident everywhere. Little cafes made the experience even more gratifying.

It's usually the places on your doorstep that you don't actually visit. This is the case with Battery Point for me as I'm normally cutting through by car from Salamanca to Sandy Bay. So, I decided to stop and 'smell the roses'. Very glad that I did as the houses are from an historic time in Australias history and all... More

This is a lovely, charming part of Hobart that really should be visited at least once if only to go to one of the lovely restaurants there. There is something about Battery Point that makes it a must do part of any Hobart trip. The views down to the water are outstanding, the buildings are interesting and some of the... More

Slowly meandered our way through the area, loved the beautiful old houses, wonderful views, and great restaurants. Worth a visit, and even better by foot.

A trip to Hobart can not be fully done without a walk through and around Battery Point. Architecturally a very interesting area with a lot of history, a lot of great little places to eat, drink, shop or have coffee. And on saturdays only a minute walk to Salamanca Markets
