Battery Point was Hobart Town's original superb. It still contains great examples of Australian colonial architecture. A wonderful place to wander and wonder. Take the time for a coffee and cake in this unique environment.

Close to city centre, delightful homes, interesting history, great views, wonderful park for the kids. What more could you want. Don't miss St George's church but be aware that the museum is not always open and we could not find out when it was. Some steep hills but if you plan your route a wheelchair is possible.

An interesting and pretty community to visit in Hobart. Would make a great coffee or lunch stop. Battery Point is a well preserved area that offers visitors the flavour of previous times in Hobart.

Numerous attractive well maintained cottages, some tiny back streets. Main road Hampden road is dotted with cafes and restaurants with asian and western cuisine. Nice views from some streets down to harbour. Step back in time. Is now expensive and trendy.

Just by luck I stayed in this area and it quickly became my favorite. Classic neighborhoods and great views of the water from many areas.

We strolled a bit on our way to the colonial house-museum and it was lovely and interesting. Great for a ramble, a bit of antique shopping, and lovely views all around

I was pleasantly surprised to have booked accommodation in Battery Point without first knowing it was an historic little suburb. I first thought all of Hobart was like this. I love the feel of the place with the water not far away and the historic charm of the buildings and shops. I could of wandered for days throughout to see... More

Striking juxtaposition of low-end and high-end houses. Especially fascinating are the mixture of unadorned English style architecture and New Orleans French Quarter-style balconies in either white or deep green with intricately patterned ironwork.

Wonderful suburb, lovingly maintained by residents. Beautiful, humble architecture and surprisingly varied... Lovely people chatted to us as we went along... Mr Mulberry has a tree full of fruit, Jenny has the most gorgeous extension on her cottage and Peter has brought his knowledge of antiquities from far away. Great shops, restaurants and cafes.

Well worth the hike up the hill to see the old houses and particularly Arthur Circus. Nice restaurants and coffee shops. Just a short 10 minute walk up from Salamanca Place and well signposted.
