Go up there on a nice and sunny day and you won't be dissapointed. TIP: When walking to the lookout climb over the railing on the right hand side. There is a small hiking trail going down that'll bring you to the edge of the cliff. Look closely for a nome on one of the rocks.

When you get to Hobart make a point of going up Mt Wellington - on a good day the views are wonderful. On a bad day the meteorological experience alone can be worthwhile (meaning it can be darned cold and very windy). If you have never experienced a significant wind/chill factor before, you will up on the Mount on a... More

Great on a GOOD weather day. NO access if snowing. But a cable car is in the pipeline. Subject to red, green and black tape!!

Given it is only a 30 minute easy drive from the city to the summit it is worth the effort. The mountain dominates Hobart with all its moods from summer through winter. In winter, and even sometimes in summer, it can be coated with snow (which sometimes closes down the road for some short occasions of a day or so).... More

I hiked from downtown Hobart to the peak. It was the most beautiful hike Ive ever taken. The only thing I did not like was some of the lower trails were not adequately marked. There's a path called the Finger Post Track, that is a straight shot up the mountain, that I didn't know about until I was halfway up... More

When I did Wooof in Hobart in May 2013, thank the best host "Ian" who drove his car to take me to this place to see the whole Hobart view from Mount Wellington. If you come here, you should bring a jacket or coat to warm yourself. Because if you come here in the autumn and winter, maybe you can... More

What a tremendous view. As it is steep it gives you the feeling of a bird perched high about the world. Watching the weather come and go is something to behold.

Amazing view once you reach the summit. Having driven up several times during other trips to Tasmania, I took my partner and my 4WD up for the first time. It had been reasonable weather down in Hobart, but I was under no illusions that it would be iccy up the top. The remainder of some snow greeted us as we... More

Road is a little windy but taking it careful you will not get a better view and overview of hobart and suburbs. Very close to the city and takes about 30minutes from gpo to summit. There are no shops at the top although there are toilets. Well worth a trip up particularly when there is snow.

Stunning panoramic views. Take a coat, it's cold up there, but well worthwhile. Be patient going up as it takes a while.
