Drive to the top fantastic, a lot higher than I thought. An alpine experience only a short drive from Hobart. Great views, like being in an aircraft, pick your day though, don't go if it is cloudy.

We drove up Mt Wellington a couple of times while on a recent stay in Hobart, the first time the temperature dropped by 11 degrees Celsius from leaving Hobart city to arriving at the top, as we got up to the top we got enveloped by cloud, we parked the car and then the wind and rain hit! It was... More

Make the trip of some 22km by the well-surfaced, but often narrow road, up nearly 1300 metres and you will see a vast panorama of Hobart, the river Derwent and long distance views as far as the Tasman peninsula. Eagle Hawk Neck can be seen, but Port Arthur is on the eastern side. There is plenty of parking at the... More

If you love walking you will enjoy at least some of the walks on this Hill Straight to the top from Fern Tree, via scenic Fern Glade or Middle Track, to the Springs to the Pinnacle and ZigZag Tracks would be a bit of a long grind if you are not used to hill walking, the latter tracks, although good,... We drove to the submit and were impressd by the spectcular 180 degree view of moving clouds and blue sky though the sky is not clear enough to view the city on that day.

Good experience. Lucky enough to have good weather for visibility. Cold, windy as expected. Could benefit by having a kiosk/ restaurant facility. Opportunity missed todate. Only one toilet pedestal is a bit average given the amount of people visiting.

Drove up in a 1971 classic and nearly cooked the engine as we were stuck behind a rather aged gentleman driving at 20km. Once at the top the views are spectacular, we were lucky to have a clear day!

Without visiting this place you cannot claim to have visited Hobart. Best views of the city. Only catch try to go on a day when there is a clear sky.
