Our guide was pleasant and full of knowledge and the history is interesting. We spent a couple of hours here but it could have been longer. The buildings are easy to get around.

This is a great museum if you're interested in Aboriginal art and culture - they have one of the best collections in Australia. The gallery of opal dinosaurs on the top floor is really amazing, and unique, and is worth a trip on its own. There's a great little cafe on the ground floor - and the museum is free.... More

I am not a museum type of person however I had a couple of hours to fill and was pleasantly surprised with this museum. I was pleased to see it was free to enter and this was a major factor in me going through it. The museum covered a couple of floors and was much bigger than I expected. The... More

Great place for the children with dinosaurs and stuffed animals! Love the moving tail on the old lion! Loved the Mawson exhibit as well as the rocks, fossils and meteorites. Good souvenir shop and café.

Free. Big. Lots and lots of variety. You can easily spend an hour or two here looking through all the various themes. There is even a resident tortoise and beehive!.

I hadn't been to the museum since I left school. It's free and much better than I remember, will go again.

A volunteer-run tour takes you through the best of the Museum, including fossils, indigenous animals (stuffed from the zoo donated over the years) a long simulation of a fighting octopus filling the lift void, a very interesting Egyptian area with mummies and suitably ghastly withered hands, and plenty of Aboriginal artefacts. This was for me the most interesting area, and... More

I've been to this museum a number of times and it's getting a little old around the edges. It does need sprucing up and modernising and more engaging exhibits. But if you have a spare half hour, it's worth the quick wander through.
