Excellent collection of aboriginal art and colonial Australian art. They also have a recently reopened Asian collection which is a must see. Its a great place to wander about on a hot summer day (or a cold winter day). For a city of only 1.2 million, its quite a collection. Best of.. its free to enjoy (fee for special exhibitions).... more

For a small city of 1.5 million, this art gallery has a reasonable collection. The are some attractive works by Australian artists such as Streeton, and evidence of some new international acquisitions. While I am not a frequent patron of the arts and lack the detailed knowledge of many others, the gallery rooms seemed a little crowded with too many... more
