Return trip is 40 minutes with continual commentary. On a beautiful day it was a worthwhile journey just to sit and take in the lovely views and unwind for 40 minutes. Quite educational too. About $15.00 for return journey per adult.

These little launches are a fantastic way to get to the Adelaide Zoo or the Botanic Gardens. It runs from the river front near Festival Centre, through to Frome Road, just across the road from the Zoo. Or, if you just want to see the Torrens River, you can do a round trip from Festival Centre to Frome Road and... More

went on the Popeye as we always love a ride on a boat through the city. Generally enjoyed the trip but would have been much better if the Driver giving the commentary had a bit more enthusiasm and added a bit more humour and embellishment to the whole story. Adding a bit of history and humour would have really added... More

How to entertain twin princesses - train ride to the city, walk down to Elder Park (adjacent to famous Adelaide Oval) on the River Torrens and catch "Popeye" which similarly entertained me as an 8 yo. Popeye is a wide, quiet, barge-like boat which is also available for charters. But we did the 40 minute tour to the weir and... More

A pleasant way to see some of the sites of Adelaide. A bit expensive for a 40 minute trip, although we were give a seniors discount. Our skipper David gave us relevant information along the way. A great way to fill in time.

We went on the popeye launch when we visited Adelaide on our honeymoon.....many many years ago...... Imagine my surprise to see them still running and we just had to hop in! The leisurely cruise up and down the Torrens river along the banks from the weir to the zoo was a lovely way to spend some down time in Adelaide.... More

did this on New Years Day. So nice to sit on the water and slowly travel around the Torrens Lake. Some great commentary from the driver (I think his name was Tony) with some things about around the lake that as a local were news to me.

Take a trip on this little boat and see the River Torrens at a snails pace! The commentary is knowledgeable and the sights of parks, walkways and people relaxing by the river is calming. Catch this boat to the Zoo (though some sort of signposting to get there is required).

This was a great way to spend some time viewing parts of the city from a new angle. The commentary was very informative and full of little titbits. We were travelling with elderly parents, including one in a wheel chair, and the crew couldn't have done more to assist them on board and make them comfortable.

A short walk from the fume filled railway station is the Popeye boat. 45 minutes of delight, just enough greenery to prepare you to face bungalow world on the way back to outer harbour station.
