It was such a beautiful day weather wise with blue skies and no wind. I spent an hour and a half there swimming and relaxing.... More

Lake McKenzie is the most beautiful place at the island! The water is of great temperature and there are some great photo opportunities. I only wish our tour would have let us stay a few extra hours because I yjust couldnt get enough of that amazing view.

A local indigenous guide actually told us that they would never swim in this lake as it was a place of wisdom however it is fine to drink the water. shame there's no sign about either, as it would be nice to respect the culture of the local tribes people (Butchulla).

Part of the Beauty Spots 4WD tour but very cold water at this time of year. It would be fantastic in summer time.

Fraser Island is fantatic! Really the coolest place of the East Coast I found personally. But Lake McKenzie I thought was overrated. It definitely is nice, but not so special. Lake Wabby was nicer to me, I thought. But the white sand at Lake McKenzie is very special indeed. It's the same as on the Whithaven Beach on the Whitsunday... More

Fab place, beautiful lake, def worth a visit. Easy parking, toilets too. A lovely place for a swim. Wasn't too busy when we went, which was early morning. I would imagine that in the high season it could get busy though, but it's worth it.

If you're looking for a clear lake to swim in, sunbath at, with little turtles and sand that you can use as exfoliant for skin and hair (seriously!) - that's the place to go!

This was a sacred place for the aboriginal people and you'll see why. It's really quite a journey through rough, rough tracks which are challenging even in a real 4WD, but it's well worth it.
