We have lived on Bribie island now for 11 years and find more and more people are discovering how beautiful the island is ...it is the only island in Queensland that has a road bridge and is a short 45minute drive from the Brisbane airport ....the passage side of the island is great for safe swimming for smaller children and... Bribie Island has three different areas to be by the water. There is the passage, the channel and the ocean. Each are beautiful and unique. We stayed in a house in Banksia Beach overlooking the passage and it was divine, even in winter. There are lots of 'older' people living there so it's very quiet. A lovely spot to get... More

Originally a place people retired to is becoming a modernised backwater; with young seachange couples moving into a make believe luxury suburb next to a mosquito infested swamp. My parents shipped us to Bribie 10 years ago and I found the locals small-minded and very unwelcoming to newcomers. All they do is the same thing, and history just repeats itself. Well I have been living on Bribie Island for about 10 years now. The only thing that we have gained is more g*****n houses and nothing to do. WE NEED SOMETHING TO DO!
