Was in Townsville for a little winter warmth and decided to visit the Reef HQ. It is an interesting place but for what there is to see it is a little over priced. Talks about turtles and sharks was interesting and seeing the Turtle Hospital and knowing what good work these people do to save them, it turns out to... More

Reef HQ have amazing fish and also a massive tank to hold all sorts of fish together. I loved their turtle hospital where they help to bring turtles back to full health before releasing them into the wild.

If you can't scuba dive or snorkel (or the sea conditions are unkind) and want to see what a coral reef looks like, close up and personal, this is the place to go. The aquarium is well laid out and informative. You can see creatures of the shallow and deep reefs, with diver shows for the family at different times... More

We took our nearly 2 year old granddaughter from Townsville and she loved it - again. It was the first time for me. The entry fee was halved because a tank was not viewable, the staff members everywhere were friendly and helpful, the demonstrations were personable and informative, and the numerous tanks and displays were fantastic. We spent 2 hours... More

If you cannot get to the reef, this is the next best option. An amazing exhibition of reef fish and coral. There is also plenty of individual displays and lots of shows to keep the kids, and big kids amused for hours. If you are a local there is also a yearly subscription which is amazingly cheap.

A lovely reef exhibit and viewing tunnel but the talks are very much aimed at primary school kids and not balanced to include the adults in the audience. Great range of sealife but some of the explanation cards could do with replacing they are a bit tired and battered.

I strongly disagree with the poor value for money comments. The staff were great and the exhibits beautiful and interesting. A great way to spend a few hours.

We have been members of this attraction for 20 years and regularly visit taking family and friends who come to Townsville. Located within walking distance of the CBD there is reasonable parking spots but all are metered so have change. The ground floor contains two major display tanks one has the largest collection of living coral which proves a habitat... More

The fish are beautiful, especially the Wrasse that comes really close to say hello and the sharks who are quite scary and close. There are activities for the kids and a petting pool. There is also a turtle hospital and you are able to go to a info show and see the turtles being cared for! The only downside is... More
