We visited here in an effort to escape the heat on our recent holiday. The kids had already swum in the stinger nets and Rockpool at the beach on the Strand, and we thought we might be in for a nice little pool at Riverway. Boy were we wrong! There are 2 huge lagoons, with lots of shady trees, children's... More

All I can say is wow, what an excellent job they have done of the area, I could easily live here. The lagoons are fantastic along with rope swings in to the river and sports facilities.

Riverway is a wonderful walk close to the Willows Shopping Centre. The paths are well formed, walks are clearly signposted and it is a easy and pleasant stroll. There are different walks in the area but I did the Riverway circuit which is 3.7 km. I walked across the Federation footbridge and headed west towards the motorway bridge before heading... More

This place is a good place for relaxing during the day and afternoon. Good swimming forcilities and are clean. The river can be used for saying, but you need to log onto the Thuringawa city council web site to book a spot and time to use it. There are very nice areas on both side of the river.

We visit Riverway several times a week as we have found this to be a great spot to come swimming. There is a swimming area for the little ones as well as two big pools. There are bbq facilities and the C-bar cafe, although we've never used them. There are also a walking track and playgrounds.

What a credit to Townsville - went with friends we were visiting and their grandchildren. We the tourists stopped at the front to look where to pay, we could not believe this place is free. Great public swimming pool by the river in the middle of a park - fantastic. They even have free sunscreen. Way to go Townsville.

Lovely swimming lagoon sited along side the river. Nice walks and plenty of picnic tables. Onsite cafe and theatre, also small art gallery with interesting exhibitions. Beware: Do not leave any valuables as there is a lot of theft. Although there are security guards on duty but wallet stolen whilst I was here. (not mine)

I had a woman with a dyed red pony tail come over to my disabled client, which was using a power point to charge his and my own mobile phones, and rudely and abruptly told him to take the phone off charge and go charge it in the power point thats out of the aircon and in Townsvilles extreme summer...
