It is a quiet spot and has some art works which some folk really were getting excited about, we liked it as well, although it did feel empty somehow. We did not see the theatres and it seemed very quiet there as well. But we did find a great opportunity to have a quiet coffee, looking back to the city... More

You wouldn't think the Gold Coast really had an artistic bone in its body if you view the place superficially, but it DOES - and here is the first place to start your discovery.

Brilliant! Excellent, contemporary and interesting works displayed. Well worth a visit and gets you away from the usual hustle and bustle of Surfers.

Worth a look if you are visiting the Cinema compex in the same building but not really worth a visit on its own. Limited display but at least the Gold Coast Council supports a gallery

A great venue for showcasing artworks. Lovely airconditioning and helpful staff! Worth going to on a regular basis as the exhibitions change frequently. Easy access and parking. You can even catch a movie or eat while you are there.

We visited the Art Gallery on an overcast day and enjoyed every minute of it. Staff was helpful with explaining events and there was an opportunity to sign the visitors book - which many did. My wife and I think that new events should be added sooner - say every 2-weeks so that visitors are enticed back.

The Gold Coast City Art Gallery is located in the Gold Coast Arts Centre near the Council Chambers in Surfers Paradise. You need a car or a local Surfside bus to get there. There is usually plenty of outdoor complimentary parking available. Entry to the gallery is free. There is an interesting permanent collection featuring works by such well known... More

This gallery only has a modest amount of space in the Gold Coast Arts Centre but they used it well and there three interesting exhibitions to look at. One was a touring exhibition from the Jam Factory in Adelaide with a beautiful array of contemporary craft and glass work. The second was an exhibition of old watercolours and photos by... More

For a city this size, the exhibits at the gallery are often a disappointment. Over the years, most displays seem superficial and trivial..., kinda like how outsiders view the Gold Coast in general. To see a great art gallery, head south about 60km to the Tweed River Art Gallery in Murwillumbah, NSW.

Great entertainment, great bar and selection of wines and champagnes. Staff was attentive. Bar food available which was great to have with your drinks if peckish. Plenty of parking spaces.
