The three-kilometer strip of golden sand between Surfers Paradise and the Pacific Ocean is Australia's iconic beach, a postcard-perfect locale that conjures up 'paradise' to millions.Throughout the year, our beach welcomes swimmers, joggers, surfers and strollers from around the Gold Coast, around Australia and around the World. There are a few simple things you can do to ensure that your day at Surfers Paradise beach is a safe and happy one.Always swim between the red and yellow flags. If the flags aren't up, it may not safe to swim, so always ask a lifeguard if it's safe to swim if you cannot see the flags. Check for additional beach signage, as this may change every day. Read the safety warnings. Check with a lifeguard about beach and water conditions if you're not sure it's safe. Put your hand up and stay calm if you get in trouble in the water. Stay sun safe: Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek shade and slide on sunglasses. Leave valuables at home or in your apartment.

A truly iconic beach, deserving every accolade. For me it was just an opportunity to walk along and paddle in the Pacific Ocean with waves crashing in. I was surprised at the somewhat narrow distance between the flags for the many swimmers but all seemed content to obey the rules. The presence of the lifeguards at the nearby station was... More

Stunning place. But, sometimes, its crowd. There's a few places with shadows. The lifeguards are helpful and humorous.

We went as a family wife and 2 kids we stayed in a handy Hotel (furnished apartment) by the beach, the most interesting that life guard were spread almost along the beach and flags were very clear for children and adults alike to swim in between.

This is one of Australia's best beaches. There are life savers positioned all along from Main Beach down to the border. The beach is cleaned every morning so is very safe.

Had a short weekend trip to get away from the Daily grind. Beautiful place and amazing people. Theme parks were really busy being end of school holidays and Australia Day coming up. The street Market is a must visit.

What can I say, that hasn't been said before. It is a beautiful beach area somewhat destroyed by all the commercial businesses right across the street. The biggest upside is they are across the road and much easier to ignore. Seems like a lot of tats are the norm here too and not the exception. I mean sleeves with and... More

Relaxing ambience, great restaurants & bar, beautiful lagoon (complete with it's own water dragons) & pool. Great views from beautifully decorated rooms, spa, gym, close enough to the light rail (without any noise) to easily get around Surfers Paradise
