I just loved this experience - it was the highlight of my stay, I think. Just loved the mystical atmosphere - the absolutely delicious and plentiful food (good enough to rival the best restaurants!) - the professional and engaging indigenous storyteller, and that there was a small enough group all together - about 50 - 5 tables of 10 -... Expensive but worth it.......the wine flows and the tasty gourmet like food is more than one could ever eat. It is just a neat venue and not like anything else I have ever done. I enjoyed sitting at the communal tables and having a good time with the different couples.

You are welcomed off the bus with a glass of bubbly, apparently deep in the rainforest ( in fact not so far out of Port Douglas, in the Beautiful Mowbray valley) in a glade of twinkling fairy lights in the trees and bushes and flaming candles. This is followed by a gargantuan meal in which the food never seems to... More

Dear Ian2005wine, Wonderful to hear from a Top Contributor - thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. I have never heard anyone refer to the menu as gargantuan - I love it! There certainly is a lot to go around (personally I have never been able to finish it myself!). Thanks again for your lovely comments... More

WOW WOW WOW.......... Can't leave until you do Flames of the forest..... Firstly you can't drive there..... You get picked up by a bus and get driven into the forest at night....... You get dropped of at a path lit with flamed touches....... You follow that to a small romantic garden all lit up with fairy lights and candles. There... More

we attended the cultural experience and loved every minute. What a magical night. The natural surroundings bathed in candlelight and lanterns were just beautiful. After having some interesting canapés including smoked crocodile, we were led to the tables to the haunting and mystical sound of the didgeridoo. From then it was abundant platters of food all beautifully cooked and a... More

What an amazing cultural and spiritual and gastronomical experience! From the moment we were picked up from our hotel the experience was excellent. The venue looked amazing with all the lights in the trees, the brothers who performed the dreamtime stories were fantastic and the good was amazing. The cost per head might seem a little high but it was... More

Flames of the Forest was a truly unique experience. The first “unusual” aspect is that you can’t just go there; they pick you up from your resort and then drive you to a mysterious location somewhere in the back hills of Port Douglas. After a 20 minute journey, the dirt road you travel on denotes you have arrived at your... More

We chose the flames of the forest as a special treat for our honeymoon. This is just such an experience, travel by bus to the secret rainforest location. The aboriginal show and story was great. But the food was just in huge proportions. Kangaroo, fig jam, prawns it was just so special.

Dear LMO65, We definitely don't want anyone to go hungry - and it sounds like you didn't which is great! The kangaroo is actually my personal favourite and it was recently added to a Tropical North Queensland cookbook dedicated to inspiring people to use native produce. Yum! More
