Description: Port Douglas is the natural place to holiday in Australia. Port Douglas...
Port Douglas is the natural place to holiday in Australia. Port Douglas, once a sleepy fishing village, is 60km north from Cairns along the Captain Cook Highway. The highway offers the first glimpses of this beautiful area, with stunning views across the water and along the coast. Visitors to this family-friendly, laid-back area can fish, golf, snorkel over the reef, walk through the rainforest or just relax on one of the many beautiful beaches the area is known for. The area is home to over 12,000, but during the tourist seasons the number can reach over three times this amount as tourists take advantage of the tropical climate and average temperatures of 26C. Whether you want to self-drive or take advantage of one of the many tours on offer the Douglas area is easy to navigate and full of interesting attractions. Whatever the holiday there is a hotel, resort, lodge, backpackers or caravan park to suit your budget and needs and most offer pools, kids play areas and beach access.

Visited in May and weather still great. If you want to get away from the cold weather down south this is the place to be. Plenty of things to do. Daintree, Cape Tribulation, Hartley's crocodiles,Tablelands not to far away

I can't wait to come back to Port Douglas and spend more time. This is a quaint seaside village with a great mainstream full of galleries, shops, restaurants, bars, etc... The marina is close by and also has more shops and tours to the Great Barrier Reef for additional fun activities. We met several Aussies who come here for vacation,... More

Port Douglas is an extremely nice place to stay and has lots of fun attractions for all ages. I went scuba diving in one of the reefs and it was an amazing experience for everybody in my family. We even saw a turtle! We also went to see George the Groper (Who unfortunately didn't show up but it was interesting... More

Port Douglas is casual, yet upmarket if you want it to be. There are restaurants and accommodation to suit all budgets. The weather in winter is warm and sunny, a great escape from the southern chill. Beach water temp is about 26, and very swim able

Port Douglas is a beautiful destination and one we frequent on a regular basis. It is a place where the older generation visit to escape from the young ones in Cairns. The drive up there from Cairns is spectacular with miles and miles of empty beaches lined with palm trees.

I absolutely adore Port Douglas and have mentioned in another review that I fell in love with the place so much that I bought land in the area. It's killing me having to wait to move up there from Melbourne. The beaches are clean, the water temperature just right, the surroundings spectacular and the possibilities of seeing lots of interesting... More

At first we thought it was just little shops & restaurants... then once we really explored the town and everything around it, we were blown away. Very beautiful all around. The beach is great and the harbor is lovely. Very relaxing tropical location.

We enjoyed the laid back ambiance along with good range of places to eat, shop and the fun weekend market was great fun along with a wide range of market stalls. Great walking beach and reasonable kite surfing when the wind was up.
