We booked Green Island through Great Adventures in England and had an e-voucher. The evening before our trip we went to the reef terminal at the marina in Cairns. Here you have to exchange your voucher for a boarding card. The lady suggested we exchanged our voucher for our boarding pass there and then. Thank goodness we did because the... More

Wanted an affordable day out on the reef so chose Green Island. All ready to snorkel and some kid without a stinger suit gets stung, so the whole island's beaches shut down for 22 hours. Of course I appreciate the work the lifeguards do and you can't control these things, but that is when it it home that there is... More

We stayed for 3 days on this beautiful tropical lush Island. Can only be appreciated when the day tourists have gone at 4pm To swim with turtles you need to be in the water at 8am and after 4pm when it is quieter. Please wear the stinger suit to protect against jellyfish. Once you zip it up, it can be... More

we made the day trip down from Port Douglas and then jumped on the cruise to Green Island. I recommend this with young kids as the other more expensive cruises take too long and the kids lose interest. This trip was cheaper, we all snorkeled and explored the reef and after an hour our kids decided they wanted to jump... More

Green island and the surrounding waters are very beautiful, but it is a bit of a hectic trip for one day. I am not sure if I would like to actually stay at the resort on the island, but arriving at 10:00 am and departing by 15:30 really doesn't allow much time to enjoy it. We also had to wear... More

Green island is great but yes the other reviews are right it is very busy. A fun experience especially to introduce young children to snorkelling however for adults I would suggest taking a boat further out on the reef and snorkelling there.

50 min boat trip from Cairns Jetty & arrive to resort. Collect snorkelling equipment & stinger suits at appropriate times-more money to hire. Lockers available $Aud9. I'm on to beach & hire 2 loungers & umbrella $35! Beach ok but not stunning & current can be strong but has lifeguards. When tide out snorkelling saw Rays, several types of fish... More

We had a lovely day trip. We went out on a boat and did some diving and then went to Green Island. The kids loved watching the crocs get fed! It's a great place for family days out if in the area.

I've been going to Green Island for nearly thirty years. The infrastructure had developed, but the fringing reef declined a bit, with the pressure it receives. It's much cloudier, with less coral and marine life, than it used to be. Still, it's cheaper than a reef trip, and better than swimming with crocodiles off Fitzroy Island. -good safe snorkelling for... More

After a couple of experiences of going to the reef with different providers and being dissapointed, Green Isalnd trip was much better but not GREAT. On the Green Isalnd trip, you can choose to see the reef with the glass bottom or snorkel. Snorkelling: We were at the safe side and was convenient for children as well. felt very safe... More
